A Cool Hand Luke Situation
The warden of the chain gang always kept telling his prisoners that what they had was a failure to communicate. The issue for me is I don't know how to help this board if you don't speak up. I don't feel like or want to be the warden. What I have felt like at times was that I was chained here to make it work. I have issued many realignment threads since the board started. I did that for a reason. They got posts and views almost every time. The Ideal Conference game last year wasn't my idea but it was a big hit thanks to bigblueblindness. 10th has had a very successful thread as well as has Medic and others.

If you don't like the direction of the board then speak up let's try something new. If one of you wants to be the Mod I don't care. I started the threads to try to keep action here to keep the board alive. I've posted twice as much as I did prior to becoming a Mod simply because it was needed to keep action going during the dead times so when I posted I went to the tried and true subject that everyone seemed to participate in. If you guys, especially you younger guys, want to take it a different direction then that is great. But failing to confront issues is not the way to go. It leads to mistrust and permits methods that are destructive to an open forum to creep in. It's your board, not mine.

So how do you think we need to move on from here? Realignment is about dead. Take ownership and do, but let's start with your ideas and suggestions.

Being a moderator should be a privilege, not a burden, so I for one will do what I can to make sure to support the board. Like you said, this is our board, and it will be what we make of it. As moderator, you should be exactly that... a singular decider on matters that need such action. Honestly, this is a place to have fun banter, so if anyone feels the need to stir up drama, they should just stick to the general board.

Thanks again for serving as mod, JR, and let us shoulder the burden. I think it is OK to chalk this period up as an offseason, of sorts. We'll all be hanging around. March Madness and football spring practice are around the corner, and August's football start and the launch of SECN will give us more than we can handle.

Spot on. Don't stress out about this board. You do not have to carry the load. We should be. If it thrives that is great. If it dies, it is not your fault. I have learned a ton from you. Everyone needs to turn down the passion button.

Because there has not been a major conference change in a whole year? Change is coming, but not until everyone no longer needs everyone else's votes.

In the meantime this board could use more non-conference realignment posts. The SEC Network should provide a lot to talk about, both carriage fights and then the network's content.

Lurker, how about starting a thread about when and what you expect to take place when the votes of others are no longer needed and why they wouldn't be needed. I think that would be fun to kick around. And I hope I don't have to wait twelve years to find out. Time is a lot more iffy of a commodity when I talk about a 12 year window now than it used to be, or at least it seems that way.

RE: A Cool Hand Luke Situation
I have no problem with how things are going here. I have never been one to start many threads, but I'm willing to chime in when I have something to say. I don't have a great deal of time either, considering work, family, and the fact that I am an admin @ saintsreport.com which is an extremely active New Orleans Saints message board. I participate when I can and things will surely pick up in that area for others when football rolls around. I follow SEC baseball (and basketball to lesser degree) but don't usually discuss what's going on. I also agree with Lurker that as the SEC Network gets rolling and we get much more SEC-specific news to focus on, these things will take care of themselves.
