13-13 that is awful. Just a really bad program.

I don't know if you are trolling a certain Tech fan, but Tech wasn't a top 200 team last year. This year, they are ranked 70-85th. Tubby's had quite an impact in one year. His seat is not warm at all.

Tech played us very well last night and almost pulled it off. Not bad at all.

Be patient, it takes time to mold a program. Hopefully that's the case with KU football too.

Tubby is a great game coach. The question is whether he can recruit.

He doesn't need the best and he will not sell his soul and go after one and doner's that don't even go to class. He has more class than that.

In all my years of watching UK, the only times Kentucky was outclassed in talent were Tubby's years when Pitino's recruits graduated. He won a title with Pitino's players and then started the longest drought in UK history without a final 4 appearance. He did a lot with what he had, but didn't succeed in recruiting the type of players you need to go far in the NCAA tourney.

Watching that game I was amazed at what a great coach Tubby is - those guys were switching Def, playing hard every possession-- KS got lucky to win that game.

If you had watched Tech the last few years (since Bobby Knight left) you'd know how horrid they were.

I'm guessing he stays there until he retires.

With seven healthy players, two of which are playing with broken non-shooting hands, we will not this year.

If there's a hot seat in Big <12 hoops, wouldn't it be the one that Trent Johnson (TCU) is sitting on?

It's Lubbock. Can you imagine trying to recruit to Lubbock? Some schools just know that they aren't getting the prime recruits and it has more to do with location than the school or the coach. Jim Boeheim or Coach K couldn't recruit top players to Starkville. 03-nutkick

He is trolling since his team can't sniff a P5 invite. Tubby Smith has worked miracles considering what Pat Knight, Billy Gillespie and Chris Walker did to the program.

No. When 7 payers that can play, 2 of them are walk-ons, and the bench full of transfers or hurt players, he gets a pass.

In fact, he will be here thru the $60 million renovation to the arena at least. If he fails to win after that, we go pay someone else a million or so to take his place.

I was going to say something about taking him too, but I think we will stick with Mick Cronin...haha

RE: Hot Seat, Tubby Smith Texas Tech
It's not Tubby's fault. He's hindered by being at a really awful program. Even the greatest basketball coach of all time (Bobby Knight) only managed one Sweet 16 appearance there in 7 years.

I always like Tubby. I don't understand why he didn't go to a better basketball program like Indiana State or Western Kentucky. SMU would have been a good spot, but I can see why they chose Larry brown over Tubby. It's hard to understand why Tubby didn't sit out a year or two and wait for Rick Byrd or Phil Martelli to retire so he could get a big-time job at Belmont or St. Joe's. He would have a much easier time recruiting kids there than to Lubbock.
