Don't forget about indoor soccer and floor hockey!

think what that area would look like in a classic Quad design

Awesome. Who pays for it?

paying for it is the obvious question. That should not preclude idle speculation. If paying for it was the criteria to discuss a campus addition nothing would be discussed

RE: Campus happenings
Not to say it can't be done. But Chick Evans is a pretty good fit for the ROTC. It offers perfect PT space plus classrooms, offices, storage, etc. for their other training and administrative functions. And its close to campus so cadets can transition easily from PT to class or from class to Lab. Maybe they could squeeze them into Anderson or something. Just something else to consider.

I was actually surprised that the Chick wasn't/isn't utilized more. Inside, its actually a pretty nice facility.

Just my two lincoln heads.

This is not being debated as an "addition." This is a teardown and replacement. Evans is still a good building and is used. If it is torn down because it is "ugly," those uses have to be replaced somewhere.

Instead of worrying about pretty, why not focus on need first?

Evans is surrounded by pavement. Lose all the asphalt, and touch up the outside, and it'll look 1,000 times better.

Very exciting plans. Dream big. I like it.

Baker has mentioned that NIU has been spending money on low priority items and if that money would be focused ONLY on high priority items that it would make a larger impact quicker.

However, I have no doubt in my mind that they will build a new rec with money from the students in the form of a tuition or fee increase.

RE: Campus happenings
Seems like most every new administration often a decade apart trots out new dreams and master plans.

Dreams and visions are fine starting points .

Remember when one vision called for replacing the Huskie bus system with a campus wide monorail and shuttling students door to door from dorms and classrooms across campus?....

Then there was the feasability study of constructing an underpass beneath Glidden road near Lucinda...

Both visions are likely buried somewhere on campus in moth balls.

Students really need more locations outdoors to gather during polar vortexes? What's a student union and the area across the plaza in front of library for- decoration?
