As absolutely pathetic as this is, we all knew it was coming.

A comment about race and unions on MSNBC touched off a heated debate this morning between The Five co-hosts Bob Beckel and Andrea Tantaros.

Timothy Noah, a contributing writer for MSNBC, raised eyebrows yesterday by suggesting that race was a factor in a recent vote by Tennessee auto workers against unionization.

The Volkswagen plant employees in Chattanooga voted 712 to 626 against joining the United Auto Workers Union.

“The opposition, I gather, portrayed this as a kind of Northern invasion, a re-fighting of the Civil War. Apparently there are not a lot of black employees in this particular plant, and so that kind of – waving the Confederate flag – was an effective strategy,” said Noah.

Tantaros called it a “really tired, desperate argument” when the issue is really about workers not wanting to lose wages to a union.

Beckel pushed back, saying he knows the area very well and believes a “cultural undercurrent” played a role in the union vote failing.

Sounds like both had them visiting:

Watching Bob Beckel debate that racism was partly the cause of the union being
rejected. Pretty pathetic attempt by him to claim that. Andrea Tantaros tore him
up in that debate. Unions are attempting to pick at straws and make any excuses
for their defeat. Beckel even brought up Hitler and the Nazis and VW being racist.
Guess not wanting to pay union dues had absolutely nothing to do with the vote.

I'm starting to think racism is the only thing keeping MSNBC afloat, and they know it.

VW is a very pro-union company. They did all they could to serve this one up to the UAW and it still failed. Beckel is just a fat ass ex-junkie.

Really seems that he thinks he is some white Martin Luther King. To Beckel everything is
racist or racist related.

I'm surprised MSNBC can't put together a better collection of contributors.

When you have to make it a point to tell everyone, it's usually not true.

I watch "The Five" on Fox at 5PM Eastern for some reason even I do not understand.
It's really not that good. The panel members inevitably talk about some petty personal
things. A lot of times they devolve into grade school conversations.

IF a liberal cause is shot down, it is because any of the following (choose as many as possible):

2. War on Women
3. Homophobia
4. Flat Earth Society (God Believers)
5. "Rich People" (that disagree with us or are in the Tea party)

Yep, when things don't go their way first response is to play the race card. The thing is they haven't figured out playing the race card has become synonymous with the boy that cried wolf. We hear it so much these days that nobody believes it anymore.
