You can tell by the size of the buildings, streets, and words that aren't legible. You should have zoomed to the same level for all the shots.

Yes, the maps are zoomed in at different levels. I tried to avoid doing that but it just wasn't realistic with the vastly different size campuses the AAC has. I zoomed in to the level where it was just large enough to fit what I thought the whole campus. You don't have a lot of control over the zoom level in Google maps.

Temple and Tulane campuses tend to get lost in their communities from a satellite view regardless from what zoom level used but I wanted to make sure I got the whole campus in the shot and not short change their campuses.

Not to mention the Liberty Bowl and FedEx Forum.

I only wanted to showcase the "main" campus of each school. I realize that most universities have branch campuses and research facilities all over their communities. UCF has a large hospitality college in the I-Drive district, medical school in Lake Nona, business building and game design in downtown Orlando etc. but I wanted to show the "heart and soul" of each school.

It's all gravy. I use those maps for my work.

There's sprawl. And then there's East Orange County.

Here's Temple looking south toward center city using Google Earth. The image is too old to include new construction, like the student high-rise dorm and a few other buildings.

On the right you can see our basketball arena, newly remodeled basketball practice facility and the indoor football practice field.

The Eagles stadium, where Temple plays, is at the far south end of the city straight down Broad. A subway ride.

I have seen a lot of pictures of the UCF campus and it all looks pretty nice. If I had more money I would actually make the trip down for an ECU v UCF game.... if I only had the money.

All of the charm of a pre-planned cookie-cutter community 03-phew

Obviously there are multiple views of university campus design. Neat, compact, and well planned doesn't always = campus character. Universities that have evolved over 100-200 years have had to fit their buildings/assets/etc into a footprint that may or may not be attractive/convenient.

I agree. I really like UCF's circular design...a lot. But I think the campus architecture is boring and looks like personality-less timeshares. It's hard to get that classic University look when it wasn't built way back when. But I also understand that not everyone likes or cares about old architecture and prefers something more modern. I wish they would have capitalized more on the Spanish Mission style which is so prevalent in Florida's history.

While there was little to zero Spanish Mission history in East Orlando, one of my favorite small colleges in FLA is Flagler College in St Augustine.

Its sad that Flagler doesn't have a good academic reputation...as I think its actually one of the coolest locations/campus/town to go to school in FLA (located right in downtown St Augustine right next to Old Town).

How do you have a "middle of nowhere" in a state the size of a postage stamp? ;-)

CT is a very densely populated state but there are large swaths of rural land outside of Hartford, New Haven, and Fairfield Counties, where 80% of the state's population is. Storrs, which is actually a village in the town of Mansfield is still less than 30 minutes away from the heavily developed urban sprawl of Hartford's suburbs. CT is much more country with a much richer agricultural tradition than most people probably realize though.
