NIU had like 50 yards of offense in the first half! They jumped offsides and gave Ohio 3 first downs in the second half. Tommy fumbled a kickoff. They missed an XP. Doeren punted with 8 minutes left.
That's a game they lose if Solich doesn't decide to heave one on first down for some reason.
Clearly a coaching victory though. Great game plan. Well prepared.
the reason that game was close was because we kicked short so Dre Archer would not get the ball. Ohio had a short field most of the time.
You have your MAC Championships mixed up. Dri Archer player for Kent.

you are correct, but we made that game close with the kicks. The Ohio game had some questionable moves by Solich if I remember correctly

Kicking away from Archer was the right move. The game wasn't close because of kicks. It was close because Sebastiano/Lynch handed Kent State 14 points.

I don't see where DD was a better coach than RC.. though DD had more experience as a DC in a big conference would probably give him a slight edge.. also have to remember RC was calling the plays during the DD years
