I like the thread title. Nicely done!

Other than that, talk about 'trivial'. Pat Knight's career goes further and further down and he's not that old. Maybe you're too young to remember but there was this REALLY slick coach named Mike Newell at Arkansas-Little Rock who made big headlines in the mid- to late-80s. He then left for Lamar....where his career died. It seems that Lamar is the place where coaches either flourish or kill their careers. Billy Tubbs launched his career/ended his career at Lamar. Mike Newell's career died at Lamar, as did Pat Knight's as did Steve Roccaforte's and, most likely, Tic's as well.

Why ANYONE would hire Tic is beyond me.

He is a interim coach. He is just there to help them finish the season.

Hopefully the guy cleaned up his life. The fact that he continues to be employed tells me he might have. Some people learn from their mistakes.

I know he had an affair with a student. Did he do something else?

Mike Newell was college basketball's version of Howard Schnellenberger .... make outrageous predictions, fabricate things, disrespect your opponents and just be a general rude bag of wind.

He made a brief tour of Japan with UALR and said "That team is ranked #7 back home." LIE
"The eyes of the nation are on this program." (ala Collision Course with the national title ... yep, the eyes of the hoops world all focused on UALR).
He claimed to sign "the best player out of Detroit" when he was at Lamar ... the same year that Chris Webber came out.

I'm still amazed by his accomplishment to get to the NCAA tournament after he was fired before Cal did here. That's one of the more amazing little tie-bits in college basketball history to me.

Your extensive knowledge of failed mid major basketball coaches is impressive.
