Megan F'in' Wright
I don't give out many F'in' posts. I think my first was for Jay F'in' Shunnar when he put up 16 in a rare Rocket Cross-era win and there have been a couple more since. They're my way of recognizing people who go above and beyond, IMO. Almost gave one to Rian Pearson for the OU game but we've come to expect some of those type games from him so I passed. Then this came along.
I know we have a separate track thread but this deserves its own thread. At the Spire meet last week she set a school record in the mile. We've had a fair number of good distance runners over the years and she set a school record. By eight seconds. Yes, I said 8 seconds in the mile. Amazing. Congrats to Megan on a great run. She is currently tops in the MAC ratings and in the Top 25 nationally. Our next AA? Stay tuned.

RE: Megan F'in' Wright
This is a HUGE accomplishment. Not only is it the school record ahead of such greats as Briana Shook, Everlyne Lagat, Ari Fisher, but it is the all-time MAC record as well! This is from a woman that, when I brought her to Toledo, was only a 5:07 miler. She was good. Not great. She actually turned down a full scholarship to BGSU to have to pay a lot of money to run at Toledo.
She's made a great improvement over the years and a big leap forward now. I think that Linh's training, for her particularly, is spot on.
The MAC mile will be exciting duel between her and EMU's Victoria Vronko. Megan and Victoria are #25 and #26 nationally with about .04 seconds between them.

I looked at the MAC performances to date- you'd have trouble sticking a slip of paper between those two. IIRC, Megan struggled with some injuries last year that really hampered her training. Big MAC posted that this was a MAC record but neither the UT site nor the MAC site mentioned this anywhere that I saw.
