Did you see Pellom on Saturday? He did fine switching onto Boatright and Napier off of screens. He even forced a jump ball from Napier in one instance.
I stood next to Crawford and Geron after the SMU game in Dallas last year, I'm 6-4. Geron and Crawford are the same height give an inch, so pick whichever listing you desire. Same could be said for McDermott. Who knows actual heights anymore?
Don't forget Pellom is playing on a bad wheel. Not the guy you want to be chasing someone from side to side all day.
Might not be a bad idea to start Shaq, Pellom and Austin and play a zone.
And of course that is IF we ever play them.

I've now watched Geron play about 50 or more games for us in a Tiger uniform alongside Joe and Crawford. If he's 6'4", Joe's a legit 6'1" or 6'2" and Crawford's damn near 6'6". But you're right, listed v. actual heights won't lead to a productive discussion.
Pellom's knee is bad, but he gave great minutes for us against a really quick UConn team, and Creighton isn't nearly that quick.
While I think a routine 2-3 zone would get eaten alive by Creighton's outside shooting, a 1-3-1, 3-2 or something unconventional may knock them off their game.

I hope we draw Creighton. I just hope we don't draw a ref named McDermott.

RE: Hope we don't get Creighton
We really only have 4 options to guard someone like McDermott; Geron, CC, Iverson, and King. Iverson is not going to play much and King has struggled with perimeter defense so those are not even real options. Pellom and Shaq could guard in short spurts but there is noway either one of those guys are chasing him around for 30 minutes, at least not effectively. I would be okay with either CC or Geron on him. Of the two, my first choice would be Geron and there is one reason for that. Geron is physical! I think he would rough McDermott up quite a bit and hopefully throw him off of his game. McDermott is going to be able to be able to shoot over the top of either of our guards. I have not watched much of Creighton but I really doubt McDermott has faced a physical defender like Geron. He will lean on him, push him, hold him, and occasionally might give him a cheap elbow. The biggest part of defending someone like McDermott is not letting him get comfortable and get in a rhythm and I think Geron would give us the best shot at that.

If you'll remember we were beating St Louis handily until Will Barton decided to make it a one man show. This is a MUCH different team than the one that played St Louis.

Referencing the speed superiority as meaning we would run them into the ground. Same thing was said pre game about St Louis regardless of what Barton did.

Great. There are exactly TWO players from that roster on this team. It isn't the same team. The coaching is better, the players are more disciplined....
....we've said we'll run a LOT of teams into the ground and guess what, we do; hence the 75% win percentage under Pastner.

If McDermott is on no one is going to stop him. He constantly moves had has too many shots in his tool kit. If we meet them we’ll likely guard him by committee (King/Iverson/Wilson/Chris-ect) and try to stop the other from winning the game.
Running some set plays may also give them headaches and ruin their rhythm. They wouldn’t be expecting this from us.

McDermott is another Adam Morrison though his game might translate better to the NBA. I again ask who on their team would be able to contain Jackson and Shaq (or Geron for that matter). I have to believe that after watching Creighton our guys would be able to get to the rim at will.

I consider him more a Wally Szczerbiak than Adam Morrison
