The problem tonight was careless turnovers.

RE: Memphis needs to RUN, 'CONSTANTLY'....
One thing I have noticed that is getting really bad in college basketball is the opposing team grabbing the ball after made shots and tossing it to refs. I saw several times it looked like our guys were reaching for a ball to hurry an inbound pass and Rutgers would grab the ball away, hold it for a sec, and then toss it to the ref. In fairness, I see our guys do it all the time as well. It is really great at slowing the game down since the refs allow it. I believe this is something the NBA has really starting focusing on this season, not allowing players to even touch the ball once it goes through the rim. I wish the NCAA would start focusing on cleaning this up.

Congratulations on getting a game thread closed.

Was mildly entertaining to tweak the over the top career concluding miserables after say, a single bad play- but I see instead- witless personal assaults and player ad team bashing.

Way to go!!!

Such fun.

Yep. Defense and rebounding are the problem with this team. But when your coach's whole outlook on the game is "we did or didn't make shots, which is why we did or didn't win" then that is how it will always be......as long as Pastner is our coach.

I'm more of the philosophy that....offense and shooting comes and goes, but there is no excuse for defense and rebounding to ever have an off night.

Yep, puzzling.

No, but the bigger idea is dictating tempo. Memphis seems resigned to allowing the opponent choose the type of game to play.

If a team like RU wants to walk the ball up don't just throw out the passive man on ball press. Do a little trapping. Force them to move and pass more than they want.

It's really not even about the offensive side, it mostly showing them some defense that takes the opponent out of its comfort zone.

Yep. I was listening to it driving in from Nashville on satellite radio with the Rutgers' announcers ... they kept saying how lucky Rutgers was that Memphis had just starting taking 3s constantly. That and Joe missing about 20 layups and dunk attempts.

Maybe...except for the fact that Memphis shot....

13 threes in the game.

Which is 3 shots BELOW their average of 16 three point attempts per game.

But- the "jacking up threes" is one of those lines to indicate they play disorganized.

Memphis opponents shoot 17 per game.

Game stayed tighter because unfortunately Joe was struggling to make shots- and there were some soft turnovers especially in the 2d half, and, Jack played very well.
