The most obvious one rings if they call too many fouls on the home team. The second one occurs if the calls are particularly lopsided. When they blow a call, there will often be a makeup call. Then there is the whole issue of things not being called at the end of games. Last but not least, you have egomaniacs like Burr, Hightower and Stuart who think that the fans go to games to watch them perform. Many refs by nature are cowards. They want to take the path of least resistance.

Wow, I agree with every word.

I Think Now It Actually Is Crystal Clear

Thank you. Conspiracies don't have to be a huge deal, they can be two out of three guys deciding one team is going to win a given game, as happened Saturday, although for something as ridiculous as the UConn game it had to be all three involved.

Once you recognize that it was, in fact, a conspiracy, as defined above, you can then move on to the important question: why?

I watched part of Neb/ Mich St on BTN yesterday. Huskers were up by 11 or so in 2nd half. At the 10:00, MSU was in the 1 + 1 and had not had a single foul called on them. Then the announcers had to audacity to say "this could hurt the Spartans b/c if they are still trailing late, they will have to waste a lot of time just fouling to get Neb into the bonus"

Refs in that game tried to bail Mich State out. Nebraska made a couple of ridiculous 30 ft threes to overcome it.

RE: I Think Now It Might be Clear ...
1. Everyone needs to stop freaking out. Games get called like this more often than you think. I don't like it, but it is what it is. As long as fans continue to watch, why should anything change? We've had a couple games where we shot a lot more free throws than our opponents. No one said anything about that.

2. Yes, we did face some home court calls, but we still could have and should have won the game.

3. The officials probably would have evened up the free throw disparity in the 2nd half, but the tigers kept making big shots and stayed close.

4. As i've said many times before, both the college and pro game have their problems. It's not just the nba like some here think.

5. Keep your heads up Tigers. My expectations weren't as high as most, so i feel real good about our season so far.

6. Let's root the tigers on to a strong finish.

Difference between being p*ssed off and freaking out. We are p*ssed off.

I've have told of a single incident of interference by conference adinistrators and was pretty much discounted on this board by some who, although never having offciated a D1 game, said I was either lying or .. just looking for attention. That's fine - everyone is entitled to be completely incorrect.

I have to think that today's game in Hartford should illustrate my point clearly. There is an agenda brought on to the court and, it has to do very much with politics and money.

If there's anyone on the forum who really believes the Tigers had a chance to win this game after seeing what you saw ... well, Put your head back in the sand. 03-lmfao

Enjoy the NCAA Rah-rah-sis-boom-bah! 04-cheers

I do believe the new defensive rules give the refs even more control over the flow of any game. There is little consistency to how the new rules are applied game to game. They should never have implemented the new offensive charge rule or the defensive rule changes, too much grey area IMO.

Could be viewed how well our guys played and almost foiled their fun. Even with the obvious disparity in fouls the Tigers refused to quit. The sweet way to avenge the loss is to win the conference tourney. Could turn out to be the motivation that makes our guys raise the bar. And as a side note, if anyone thinks CJP doesn't work the refs just because he doesn't look like a madman is just wrong.

Why? I'll bet friends and family who knew him well asked why he would quit. Mine would, wouldn't yours?

So you're calling him a liar with absolutely no evidence to prove so?

I think MemX should write a book....at least do an interview with someone...

Never happen, Trans ... too old for that now. Would have back in the day but not now.

Let me ask this: Does anyone besides me ever wonder why a game offcial has never been asked to explan why he made a call the way he did in public ... after being presented with video replay?

I would have welcomed it. I would not have shunned that at all. I would have missed some - but NOT all game long and damn sure not consistently in favor of one team or another.

04-cheers

because the NCAA and NBA make the refs off limits to the press

Agreed - But WHY??? More fuel ... 04-cheers
[/quote. Without checks and balances they can do whatever they want without accountibilty. It would be too easy to buy a referee. The fans deserve it. The players certainly deserve it.
