The Pump/Head/Shot Fake
We never use it. Duke does as UNC. Why don’t the Tigers. Austin & Big Dom do. Everyone else tries to power the ball and it gets stripped or rejected like today.

Can’t power the rock all of the time. Get them off of their feet and earn the @1.

Well today doing that wouldn't have resulted in fouls

BS man as we were on the road. To win on the road one must play better and also smarter. We didn't even challenge in the lane to get FT's. They did it here but we did not do it there. Result: 2 L's.

Are you serious did you watch the game? Our guards attacked the rim constantly today and joe was the only guard to get to the line. So don't give me that crap about not challenging in the lane

Our guards attacked the rim on the fastbreak/runout. We did not do it in the HALFCOURT, and this is where you can score and get the @1 easily like they did.

They did not foul us on transition but we fouled them in the lane during their their halfcourt sets. Period.

Refs? Please.

It is true we attacked the rim in the 1/2 court...But we attacked when the lane was open and scored most times we did...They attacked the rim regardless with the mindset of getting to the line, we do not really do that. When we see a congested lane we pull it out or try to pass.

42-24. Let me repeat that 42-24. That was our advantage in the paint and yet we have people who think we didn't attack the rim enough today. Please. We doubled then in the paint and got no fouls. Complete screw job today

... again, the question is WHY ??? Still 94 feet baseline to baseline, 15 feet from the stripe and the hoop is 10 feet in the air.

Apparently. If you can’t see or identify a problem how can you fix it?

For the game at the FT line our entire team went 6-9 and UCONN 29-36. Geron, Chris, and Dixon were 0-0 from the FT line. ZERO, Zip, Nada. On the flip side Boatright was 11-12 and Shabazz 9-12. Joe was our ONLY guard who even shot a FT.

Yes the refs didn’t make calls for us but that is to be expected on the road. You have to force them to make the obvious calls, and while UCONN was faking and going by us we primarily went for the steal which led to many cheap fouls even a blind man could see.

Every time they went by us we reached, slapped, and grabbed. This is an ongoing longtime habit we need to correct ASAP.

While everyone gets that things are tougher on the road...you seem to really be force feeding this.

Yes- our guys could have done even more than driving- a lot- and getting contact- a lot- and not going to the line- a lot- while Napier and Boatright did. Even if they did a better selling job and even if the referees were naturally bending towards the home team- as does happen- not as much as people think but it happens- the over the top amount of times they were not called and we were- made this a screw job.

A screw job that no amount of I am a good soldier and refuse to think the refs did a hideous job in the game will overcome.

They sucked. Had they not sucked- our kids would have shot several more free throws and their kids would have shot less. And Geron would not have fouled out and we never would have made overtime.

They did not conspire. They just had an outcome turning bad performance. And that is the case even with some reaching and fouling that our guys did do.

Screwed.

Funny that I CLEARLY saw Dixon, Jackson, Johnson, and Crawford all attacking the rim within the half court offense and doing so repeatedly.

Funny that you are the only one blaming this game on the guards.....who played BRILLIANTLY today.

I see. So it’s the ref’s fault?

Did the refs make us fumble the ball all day and commit 18 turnovers? UCONN had 6 turns for the entire game so I guess you and others have conclude the refs cheated and made them take care of the rock.

Visiting teams get screwed every time they hit the court.

Once again we put all of our eggs in one basket filled with holes and lost. The refs were horrible but we didn’t play a balanced game, which is what was needed to win in a hostile environment.

We had a better field goal percentage, out rebounded them, had more assists than they did as well as 7 blocks but WE didn't play a balanced game.

Which game were you watching?! Memphis played one of the best and most balanced games they played this season.

They attacked the rim FAR MORE and shot FAR FEWER 3s than UConn yet UConn went to the line 4xs more than Memphis.

Had Joe gotten the calls Napier got he'd have had 30 points too.

Seriously, you have your right to your opinion but every thing you say happen DIDN'T happen.

Shaq turned the ball over a couple times because UConn players literally pulled his arms apart.

Our guard played well and attacked when there was an opening. But they also made untimely mistakes and fumbled the ball away. Too often they attempted to dribble into heavy traffic and either got stripped or just lost control of the ball.

Can’t make that many TO’s and expect to win on the road. Our guards did play well but UCONN’s guards took care of the ball and played better.

RE: The Pump/Head/Shot Fake
You clearly can't argue with ignorance. Yes this game was decided by the refs bealestreet and it's clear that you didn't watch this game. Or if you did you didn't pay attention.

You so call claim we didn't drive or attack the rim enough. Ok so you tell me how we got 42 paint points to their 24. All 42 of those points didn't come in the open court. So asinine in out team was attacking the rim so your wrong there.

You ask why Geron, Chris, and Dixon didn't shoot free throws go ask the his in stripes that one.

This is the closest I've heard coach come to jumping on the refs. That right there should tell you it was horrid and one-sided.

But again you can't argue with ignorance and you are full of it

Seriously, you have your right to your opinion but every thing you say happen DIDN'T happen.

Shaq turned the ball over a couple times because UConn players literally pulled his arms apart.

We did almost everything better but balance our scoring. Again their 7 footer goes to the bench and we didn’t take full advantage of it.

Our 4 guards attempted 45 shots while our 5 bigs 17. That’s NOT balanced and makes us easier to defend. Again, our guards played well but their’s played better, with Shabazz having a career day.

And the thing you say DIDN”T HAPPEN apparently can’t be seen with blue Kool-Aid glasses on.

That’s not the point. When we attacked the basket UCONN allowed us to go instead of fouling and chancing the @1. We also made many of those drives in transition when we beat them back untouched.

On the other hand when they attacked the rim we either went for the steal or grabbed them and the home team usually gets those calls. When you get beat off of a screen cleanly, let’em go. Trying to punch or swipe from behind will get you a foul every time.

I realized we were doing this early in the first half and thought we were just too hyped up and would settle down. But we continued it all game long and the result was only 4 steals and a bunch of fouls for the effort. Flip side is UCONN played the passing lanes (with their feet) and got 11 steals.

Yep the refs screwed us but we helped them screw us.
