I saw that. It was in a critical point of the game. I hope people here post this continuously for a few days

It led to a Boatright 3 in a 1 point game. Huge swing.

It's only part of the reason I said this game should be reviewed by NCAA officials review board. It's atrocious. Totally not fair to these kids. UCONN is no better to suffer a home loss than anyone else. Bound to be money involved.

RE: These refs have blown
Memphis has suffered from foul discrepancies like this before, most notably the L'ville game last season. Instead of blaming the refs, does anyone ever question whether there is something Memphis is doing (or not doing) that results in this? Napier and Smart are great players, but is it coincidence they have their career nights against Memphis?

Leave the refs out of it we lost to a better team. We are fifth in the league and that's where we will end up. No shame in that we are what we are good, not great and probably not a second week team in March

I agree with this 100%. Problem is that some on here truly believe we are as good as Arizona and Syracuse and that refs have conspired to keep us around the 7-seed spot.

Sorry dude, I watch a hell of a lot of basketball, and we're better than Arizona right now. Not "just as good". Better. That's going to chap your butt, but it's just the truth.

Noone is as good as Syracuse is, and I haven't seen anyone say we were as good as Syracuse, so this is just more of you simply talking out your stinky azz.

Sounds like you're upset because we lost, and you guys cant get a decent circle jirk going.

I agree Bro Montana. Definitely better than Zona. I believe we are better than the Cuse, too. If Duke Edsall, Jim Burr, Mike Stuart and Obama don't conspire against us, we win it all. It ain't close dude.

He's right! I would love to play a #1 or #2 seed Arizona. They look lost at times and we matchup well with them and they shoot bad FTs just as bad as some of our guys so there's no advantage there for them. He's also correct that no one is as good as Syracuse right now.

This wasn't Louisville last year, but only because that game was the worst I've ever seen.

We were drawing as much contact as they were. It's infuriating that such a thing affected the game.

RE: These refs have blown
I believe UConn players are very creatively taught how to use the foul rules in an unfair way. For example, in one play Geron has been passed by Napier and has his body turned and is moving sideways with Napier. Geron is not between Napier and the basket. Napier leaped sideways into Geron, using the body contact to stabilize himself, and made the shot. The refs called the foul, but the body contact was initiated by Napier and totally not a necessary basketball move to make the shot. UConn is not the only team whose coach teaches these kind of moves, but they are very good at it.

As for the fouls not called against us, if a player is fouled by three different players reaching in at the same time, the ref hesitates not knowing who to call it on, and in that moment they play on and the whistle never blows.

Their coach is out of the NBA, where players like Durante thrive on this kind of thing. It is not technically cheating, especially if the refs don't call it.

But we play a clean game.

The same idiots that complain about Pastner for EVERY tiny thing, real or imagined; can't find it in their hearts to criticize the refs even a little bit.

Statistically improbable that two teams of relatively equal talent wind up with a discrepancy like yesterday.

I helped coach a high school basketball team 20 years ago. It was a one year gig as I helped a friend who was filling in for a coach that had health issues. Our basic strategy was to play smart, not aggressive defense and let the other team rack up fouls being all aggressive. We had many a game where we made 3-5 times the free throws the other team attempted. It worked, the year before the team had 9 wins, our year 17 wins, the next year 8 wins. I doubt if such was UConn's strategy, but making a concerted effort to create a significant free throw discrepancy is a good strategy.
Thanks for sharing this.

Unfortunately, this will fall on deaf ears of those who continue to purport there is a conspiracy (by the referees? AAC officials?) against Memphis to keep us down.

So it is your opinion that yesterday's game was called within the normal limits of human error? And you say I have an agenda?

Not a conspiracy.

Just a pathetically reffed game- since Memphis was the MORE AGGRESSIVE team in the paint.

Home courted. It happens. And it happened.

They refuse to recognize inconvenient facts and prefer to live in their little fantasyland. Facts are facts. As for me, I'm done here for the day. Time to get ready for tonight's two hour season finale of 'Finding Bigfoot.'
