Eight University of Tennessee students were cited for trespassing and two others for underage drinking following an unsanctioned snowball fight in Neyland Stadium Wednesday evening.

At least 300 students gathered on the field for some snowfall mischief. Evidence of the melee began popping up on Twitter accounts around 11 p.m. UT police arrived to break up the fun.

Most students left the stadium when asked and were not cited, said UT spokeswoman Margie Nichols. Nichols said officials were concerned, in part, about damage to the grass on Shields-Watkins Field.

Further details were not immediately available

I have a son and daughter there right now and they missed this event, but wished they had been a part of it!

They said the snow was absolutely perfect packing snow. Six inches of the wet frozen stuff!! You could just scoop it off a bush or car and it was ready to throw instantly!

My son said the snowball war at his fraternity house was the most fun he had ever had in the snow next to snowboarding in Colorado.

I lived in Midtown for awhile. It snowed one night and I had a bunch of guys come over. We started throwing snowballs and one of them struck a neighbors door in the apartment complex that I lived in. He called the police. Everyone was gone when the police showed up. The funny thing about it was that it was a bible study which would have made it hard to explain.
