A Fluff Piece
Let's admit it... we are all ready for some actual news or events, so now is a good time for a fluffy little post. Make your team the centerpiece of a custom made conference. In your ideal world, who would be in conference with you? Maybe start with 7 more schools to make an 8 team conference, and keep adding a pair as long as you want.

Kentucky

At 8 schools: Louisville, Indiana, Ohio State, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Tennessee

10: add Georgia and South Carolina

12: add Florida and Alabama

14: add Illinois and Missouri

16: add Mississippi and Arkansas

18: add Michigan and Penn State

20: add Maryland and LSU

Duke basketball is too hated to even make the top 20, and nobody really cares about playing Vandy. They just like to visit Nashville.

A Fluff Piece
For Texas A&M

8: LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss, OU, OSU, Texas Tech, and Texas

I'd never want the Longhorns in the SEC, but if the slates were wiped clean they make too much sense as a conference member. Ole Miss was the last add.

10: New Mexico, Alabama

Expanding in both directions keeps A&M in the center, this helps both basketball and football. I'm a fan of New Mexico's potential.

12: Kansas, Missouri

14: Auburn, Miss St.

The last 4 could really be added in any order.

If I were creating my own conference id want all big state schools, no small privates or city "commuter schools" SMU would be a private school that I might consider eventually, and perhaps Rice as well, but we'd have to get to over 20 teams for those.

RE: A Fluff Piece
For Maryland

8: UNC, Duke, NCST, UVA, VT, WVU & PSU

10: Clemson, Florida State

12: GT, Syracuse

I think 14 is stupid so I'd go straight to 16;

16: BC, UConn, Miami and Pitt

No basketball divisions but go with pods for football

1- FSU, Miami, Clemson, GT
2- UNC, NCST, UVA, VT
3- MD, WVU, Pitt, PSU
4- 'Cuse, BC, UConn, Duke (Duke gets a travel subsidy)

At eight:

Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Kansas, Ole Miss, Georgia, and Vandy.

At ten:

Add Florida and Auburn

At twelve:

Add South Carolina and Okie State.

As you all can see, I am pretty happy with the real life set up. lol

Talk about regional! UNC is fortunate to have so many big programs surrounding them.

Yep! With this set-up my longest trip to an OOC game is approx. 6 hours by car (Georgia Tech and Maryland, both are about equal distance from my home in Greensboro).
