Sadly I haven't met power players who know these things for sushi and karoke in Tokyo today...

The fact that Miko has disappeared is actually one of the signs that Realignment Wars have entered a truce for the time-being.

For good reason though. Same as all of you were doing to get out of CUSA. If in fact things have settled for a while, we just have to make the best of it. All of our schools have to maintain the success they've had and try to improve the areas where they aren't strong. If we are all stuck together, we have to figure out how to make it work and make it worth more than the table scraps that we are being paid now.

I don't disagree too much with your first two sentences.

If I'm a UC or UConn administrator, coach or fan; I would be disappointed also. Over the last few years, my football schedule has gone from Syracuse, West Va, Va Tech, etc to Tulane, Memphis, Tulsa(who has been very good but there's no way for you to know it first hand).

Every time I thought it was over, it wasn't. Every time anybody thought it was over, it wasn't. Realignment has been going steady since the '60s.

B12 at 10. B1G would like to add for BTN. ACC wants ND full time. SEC would react to B1G. Peace in our time? Nah.

Just wait until South Carolina starts making $25M more per year than North Carolina once the SEC network fully kicks in. Or wait until Iowa starts making $10M more per year than Kansas after the new Big 10 deal gets done.

That kind of disparity between neighboring schools is unsustainable. UNC can't afford to fall $250M behind the Gamecocks in 10 years. It affects their ability to retain coaches.

Realignment is not over. It's just on pause.

RE: ESPN Ivan Maisel: Conference Peace has Arrived..
With GOR in effect for the next 10yrs the most attractive acquisitions are basically off the table. The only short term expansion would be the Big 12 picking up a couple teams for a Championship game. There are no attractive programs left out there for the Big 12 to make that move IMO. They make plenty of money as it is. The new networks from the P5 conferences will continue to swell their war chest of cash. The ACC might fall behind slightly but keep in mind they have also acquired some of the best Big East NCAA unit generating programs that will only expand the millions they pull in from the NCAA Tournament and split up between them.

I understand the logic Cougar Red is using in comparing South Carolina and North Carolina but I also live it being a SC resident originally from NC. The Gamecocks will probably never relinquish their lead in Football despite sucking for decades. South Carolina on the flip side will never catch up to UNCheat in Basketball. Despite all the money that South Carolina has now they still suck in Basketball. UNCheat will always be a Basketball first school so if South Carolina revenue far exceeds UNCheat it will not bother them until to enables South Carolina to actually be a Basketball power.
UNCheat also has the full backing of the North Carolina Legislature and will always be subsidized with state taxes for whatever their needs be. They will also always have a never ending supply of rich donors that will fill in the gap

Now the ACC is worried about stability in the college football landscape? After pillaging the Big East for 10 years?

Give me a break. Swofford does not have one ounce of concern for the overall landscape.

Exactly that ******* only wants stability now that he realizes the ACC is at/near the bottom of the P5 totem pole. Not nearly as fun for him when he's the one sweating if teams are leaving.

Exactly, it is his way of saying the ACC is so powerful that once we sign these grants all is now calm in the world of FBS...on the flip side he is saying and we can screw with you again like we did this time (since we are delusionally all powerful). Don't forget they started the whole multi-team conference raids when VT, Maimi and BC bolted from the BE to the ACC it has been nuts ever since. He accomplished what he needed and that was to distroy the BE, CUSA1.0 and later Mountain West all where making really good in roads to a national brand until the raids started.

UNC could have left for the B1G or SEC...They enjoy being the Kingpins in the ACC...the ECU folks would pretty much tell you the same.

Yep UNC runs the ACC much in the same way Texas runs the B12. Texas and UNC would both rather control a P5 conference than be just another member of another P5 conference.

We shall see. Do you really think the leagues are consulting with him? For every speculation like this are five more saying it is not over yet, and by the way, this was just a speculation piece. Have fun calling UC names and getting worked up because our AD had the nerve to say out loud what every AD is the league wants. We shall see.

+1 on that,

At least on the lower revenue sports the MAC is working to rectify that. WVA has joined the MAC for Men's Soccer to reduce travel costs and build rivalries with Ohio, Kent, Bowling Green Buffalo & Akron.

Mizzou wrestles in the MAC along with Northern Iowa & Old Dominion. Oklahoma U's wrestling HC has expressed a desire to merge B12 (OU, OSU, IA ST & WVA) wrestling with the MAC. Which means that Mizzou would compete again with it's former B12 rivals in at least one sport. WVA would have close by competitors in Old Dominion & Ohio. Iowa State and Northern Iowa would build a rivalry if this came to pass along with Northern Illinois. Developments should be interesting.

Its not gonna just be South Carolina making 25mil more than UNC....

its gonna be Mississippi State making 25mil per year more than Florida State.

Let that one sink in

This is exactly why swafford is constantly running the conference stability propaganda tour. he also hits the the conference members over the head with GOR in every other sentence as constant threat,

think its over, its not.

I'm absolutely sick of people whining about UC saying they aren't satisfied where they are. You can sit up on your high horse all you want and say about how we aren't doing it the 'right' way, but the truth is we tried to keep this conference alive for 3 years and it got us nowhere. At least we are being straight about it. As long as we are in here, we will be doing whatever we can to help. We're just letting the world know we aren't satisfied with mediocrity.

Keep in mind, for many of our new conference mates, this conference is a big step forward.

We want out because its a big step backwards. It's just a matter of perspective based on recent experience.

No, it's really not a big step forward for any of the new members. It's basically the same ole same ole. I will obviouly agree that it is a better basketball league--but for football? Not really. The money is only marginally better. So, there is no big step up. The AAC is 9 former CUSA schools plus Temple, Navy, and UConn. It's a small step up at most.

Step forward? I agree, no. But we avoided the big step back that they're feeling now. Avoiding playing the lower tier C-USA teams (UAB, UTEP) plus the likes of Charlotte, UTSA, and the former sunbelt teams.

In comparison to where we would be if any one of us were left behind, there's just a huge difference. So while Houston, SMU, Memphis, UCF, Tulane, ECU and Tulsa and their fans see it as mostly a lateral move the fans of those left behind look at what C-USA is now and see it as a step up. Not technically true, but I see where they get the idea.
