RE: BEAT THE BRAKES OFF THE GOLDEN BEAGLES GAME THREAD
Just finished watching the recorded game on CSS. Wow! Our best game this year. We played better than we did against UNC. Wimp Sanderson did commentary on the game, and had nothing but great things to say about Haase and the job he is doing here.

My favorite Wimp line though was in the first half after Frazier scored his first two.

"There's nothing better than double penetration"

You go, Wimp!

On an unrelated note, the golden girls' outfits look sharp.

RE: BEAT THE BRAKES OFF THE GOLDEN BEAGLES GAME THREAD
Some Key Points

1. WE ACTUALLY BROKE THE PRESS SUCCESSFULLY.
2. Swing played a lot of minutes.
3. WE MADE THREE-POINTERS.
4. We played a lot of man defense instead of the usual zone.
5. The Watts, Frazier, and Swing line-up seemed to be pretty successful in finding open shots.
6. Williams started, but didn't play much. He made some key energy plays though.
7. Maybe it was because we saw more man than usual, but it seemed like we ran more set plays tonight.
8. We were pretty successful at penetrating the zone and finding Rucker in the soft spots.
9. We played "inspired."
10. Maybe the most minutes Frazier has played as the two guard?

Let's keep playing like this.

How the hell do I follow a line like that?

I thought that was our most complete game of the year. Certainly the best I've seen them look.

I was worried that the team would come off the recent losses and kinda go in the tank, lose motivation. Instead, you could see from the jump that they were very focused and intense. Sharp passing. I have several times said harsh things about Chad being a selfish player... well, tonight he was very unselfish, made extra passes, did not really start looking for his own shot until pretty late in the first half, and it made everyone better.

SoMiss has a very good zone and we scored twenty points over what they average giving up, and moreover we didn't bat an eye when they went to a press.

Just a solid game. Loved it.

RE: BEAT THE BRAKES OFF THE GOLDEN BEAGLES GAME THREAD
The big thing was that nobody could cover Frazier.
In turn, Frazier played pretty good against Watson.

Swing played pretty good, you thought for a minute that he might have found his shot. Unfortunately it is still missing.

Madison in the short time he was out there looked like a man among boys.
He is built.
Looks like he could play the 1, 2, 3, or 4 position & possibly 5 if we really got into trouble.

RE: BEAT THE BRAKES OFF THE GOLDEN BEAGLES GAME THREAD
Wow! Just wow!

1. UAB shot the lights out from downtown, 11-23.
2. Chad Frazier had 20 points, 10 assists, and 1 turnover
3. CJ Washington had 21 points.
4. UAB stunk from the free throw line, but Rucker was still 5-6. Plus he had 7 rebounds.
5. Watts can really dribble well. 11 points for Denzell.
6. USM came in 21-3. UAB 84 - USM 60, final.
7. Attendence - was over 4,000.

Announced paid attendance was around 4700.
Considering our record & the day of week, etc. it was to be expected.

I think the late tipoff on a weekday probably lowered attendance a bit too.

Holding USM to 2-16 from behind the line was critical. Long misses mean long rebounds .

RE: BEAT THE BRAKES OFF THE GOLDEN BEAGLES GAME THREAD
Watts play was a major key to the victory. Valuing the ball and not having casual passes intercepted , breaking the zone press , and scoring a few shots is all we need from the point. Others shined as well, of course, but play by the point guard making correct decisions was really important tonight.

Not only did we just blow out the top team in the conference by 24, we did it despite poor foul shooting except for Ruck and a lot of foul trouble. CJ and Tosin each had 3 at halftime.

Watts and Madison were perfect from the field. Tosin was 2-3. Love seeing freshmen contribute. Future = bright.

Not bad for a Thursday night after a snowmagedden event at 8pm. Some kids had to go back to school Friday morning.
