I Don't think the osu spring game will make a difference. I like the buckeyes but UT is first and all ways will be for me. Go Rockets

Sorry it is going to take some time. Had a long talk with some parents, players after the season, and I am very disappointed in our program at present time.

Agree with R79...MC is a great young coach that might have gotten the keys to the car a little early. This is going to be a challenging year for him...a lot of new staff, new QB, expectations to return to the title chase and win the big games. Ironic that we finally get a MBB program to be proud of and the FB program struggles. Still in it for the long haul. Go Rockets.

Agree with all you said but "struggle". 04-chairshot Not up to expectations, sure. 05-nono I have been hearing very good things about Ely at workouts. Not saying he will be starter [ I don't know], but I believe we will have the type of decision making needed whomever is at QB to put us over the top. Everyone has said over and over that the QB is the key and I think we are there. Also, Flu was the man, but the youngins proved they are ready. Pretty much all Oline, te and receivers will be back, ready and capable. If our offense doesnt produce this year, I will make eastisbest look like MC's agent when compared to my thoughts. It's time to get it done. NO EXCUSES!!!!!!

"struggles"???? with the Akron game aside....
The team competed on the road with 2 SEC East (1 Champ) football teams, and something strange always happens with Ball State. that's 3 of the 5 losses right there. I think the team is in better shape than some think. Find a QB, and get the DB's to cover without drawing a flag and the team will be in good shape.

Terry, we had a good chance to win both of those SEC games...that's an opportunity you have to capitalize on. I agree that the talent level is there...it was evident in both those games. The problem I have, along with several other fans, is the coaching. Have we upgraded our staff in the offensive play calling and secondary departments? Im not sure. Those were our major weaknesses.

I know my expectations for next season will be in the 7-5 or 6-6 area. I'm just not sold on Campbell as a head coach...especially on game day when it counts most. I'll still support the team...road trips to Cincy and Iowa St and look forward to them but until the season starts and I see what improvements were made, I'll continue to be skeptical.

You'd better like Campbell. He signed a contract extension through 2017.

I think MC is a good coach, in fact better than Beckman. I have many issues with position coaches and I understand that all falls back on MC. Your point about Ely is correct, here is UT's problem Woodside is also very good saw some playing time should have seen more when TO struggled. I predict if Ely starts Woodside will transfer, that due to promises these position coaches make, then the kid comes and they are trapped here or go somewhere else and have to sit out a year. We recruit way to hard on starting and playing time and not on education. I convinced a kid to pass on 2 scholarship offers from MAC schools and be a preferred walk on at UT, biggest mistake I ever made. No matter what these coaches will play the kid they offered over walk on regardless of grades, attitude and talent. Even in blow out games some of these coaches keep their #1's in to pad stats to promote for awards. It was a very bad situation and I almost lost one of my best friends for 40 years over it. Things for walk on's were a lot different in the 1980's they had a shot to play if they had talent. We continue to lose both scholarship and walk on players at a high rate.

I seem to recall a walk-on offensive line...errr, I mean I SEEM TO RECALL A WALK-ON OFFENSIVE LINEMAN HERE A YEAR AGO WHO PLAYED A LITTLE! 02-13-banana02-13-banana02-13-banana02-13-banana02-13-banana02-13-banana

Seriously, sounds like you had a bad experience but read any team's boards. They all bemoan the same issue-player turnover. The problem is more one of kids thinking they will play immediately and heading for pastures that they think are greener at the first sign of bench time. I don't hang out with the team or coaches but I've known a few coaches and the next one that plays a less talented kid over a more talented one (all else being equal) will be the first.
