The refs were inconsistent - both ways. They would let everyone beat and bang down low, then call touch fouls at half court.

Yeah, that's what I saw too. Neither team could be upset because the calls didn't seem to favor either side. Some things seemed blatant but weren't called and I couldn't see others that were called...both ways. And does anyone know what that technical was called on EMU for? Nobody around me seemed to know.

RE: Toledo visits EMU Saturday (HOF day - Boykins, Dial )
Not terribly surprised that EMU won---I figured it was a game that could go either way. I also knew that EMU plays good D but holding UT to 44 points for the game is freakish and goes well beyond just good D-----I think that the Boykins curse still works and was responsible, at least in part.

Anyway, one positive outcome is that it should end all those nonsensical discussions about possibilities for an at-large bid for the MAC this year that was never going to happen anyway. It is (and always was) going to be the MAC Tournament winner going to the NCAA as the sole representative of the conference.

Murphy kept yelling at Steratore for not calling 3 seconds on Boothe. Gene told him to calm down twice, but Murphy didn't stop, and got T'ed (I was behind the bench). Coach K had a similar meltdown in the second half after a ticky tack loose ball foul on Drummond, but didn't get T'ed. Both coaches were VERY vocal, especially in the 2nd half.

0-4, 2pts, fouled out after 20 minutes, sounds like Drummonds suffered from a suspension hangover.

too soon?

Someone in the crowd said he had less field goals than his blood alcohol content. That generated a few chuckles. Our student section was also pretty relentless with him. The Toledo contingent at the game was hilariously appalled, as if they expected anything cordial from a student section.

Quite honestly I believe the reaction he gets in road arenas will be the most meaningful lesson he'll get. I sit right behind UT'S bench and I know I wanted to scream invective at him.

It's funny that you call that relentless - considering they stopped chanting at him after a couple minutes, then didn't start again until some time during the 2nd half. And it's funny that you think the UT fans were appalled - any sensible UT fan knew EMU fans would yell at him.

We're not supposed to mention that! It doesn't fit perimeterpost's narrative! 03-shhhh

They chanted three different things until he finally hit a couple free throws, and all the Toledo fans basically gave him a standing ovation. It was kind of embarrassing actually. But whatever makes you feel better.

oh look, its a link from a story from 2005. Let me guess, because I'm still not regularly discussing it 9 years later I must be guilty of hypocrisy, right? Nice try. fail.

Nice try. Read my post again. Were you or were you not outraged AT THE TIME? Was Solich, IYO, a man of low character? You don't recall the incidents so I'm thinking maybe OU's failure to discipline people effectively for drug, alcohol and violent offenses had a different impact on you than did Toledo's incident. You mention Solich's discipline of players last year. Has his character improved, perhaps, as a result of his poor decision making? Might Kowaljek's also improve ( I realize that his decisions didn't put anyone directly in danger as did Solich's)? Your avoidance of discussing an analagous incident (or in OU's case, pile of incidents) makes me wonder about the application of situational ethics. That is the "fail" here.

Nah, the 21 point victory was enough for me.

But when he was shooting free throws, our student section was chanting something, and as soon as Drummond hit the free throw, your fans went nuts. Not sure if you suppressed that memory, but it happened. Sorry.

I guess cheering a made FT is now considered a standing ovation. I never knew that.

It was loud and demonstrative toward our student section. Like a "he showed you!" type thing, which ended up being ironic, because those were his only two points of the game.

Someone should have shut up the woman in your student section always yelling, she had the most annoying voice... I could hear it from the opposite corner of the building.
