RE: Huskie stadium rumor
Frazier did hint at an announcement in the summer regarding facility upgrades during halftime of the Miami OH game on CSN last Tuesday.

RE: Huskie stadium rumor
Also saw the Miami halftime interview and when asked by Reghi about the next facility upgrade Frazier grinned and said something will be announced this summer. Also said facilty upgrades are very much a keeping up with the jones type of thing and stay tuned for more info. Football was mentioned but then quickly threw out tennis and soccer. Also said we have been fortunate to have donors step up.

After experiencing that, I'm never going to a game under 40 degrees.

I hope it is improved press box and suites. Maybe a new huskie shop in the endzone where we can add seating. How cool would that be. Have a shop right under the seats in the end zone plus new concessions and bathrooms

The first order of business should be putting in a new public address system at the convocation center. You can't understand a word that the PA announcer is saying. It's terrible.

Amen to that! My wife has super hearing, and she could only discern a few words of what the announcer was saying. It is embarrassing.

Also, the video board is so bad that you cannot read the out of town scores when they post them.

I certainly hope that is not the case, and I doubt it will be. Where are we going to play our home games? Camp Randall? Maybe this would give them the opportunity to schedule 12 away games!

It would take major commitments in terms of dollars that we have not come close to ever seeing - unless they got a few corporate donors willing to drop many, many millions.

Not that I believe this at all, but I would assume/hope if it actually happens it would just be the West Side. Tearing down the East side seems extremely dumb/not needed.

there will be enhancements but they are not totally rebuilding it. That would be a waste. They are looking at ways to provide donar fans with some amenities

RE: Huskie stadium rumor
I think Sean Frazier and Doug Baker have arrived in the wake of the Orange Bowl and national recognition for the past two seasons. I hope they will dream big and seize this opportunity to build the infrastructure to support a higher level of performance. NIU needs a stadium that will seat a legitimate 30-40,000 at some point. Beginning with a complete rebuild of the east, west and south sides with a plan for future expansion would be great. Yes, suites, club seating, new media services area, better concessions, bathrooms, access, etc., expanded seating. Other sports need upgrades too, but let's spend money wisely by targeting revenue sports. Basketball appears to be turning a corner and upgrades there would help too.
SF talked about expanding DeKalb airport so teams could fly right out of DeKalb.
We talk frequently on this board about the MAC versus bigger conferences. First let's upgrade our facilities so that bigger conferences could consider us while striving to dominate the MAC. DB has talked about enhancing the student experience. Build more dorms to replace Lincoln and Douglas with ones like the new dorms. Tear down the student rec building and build a new, bigger one. Heard rumors in the fall about doing this in the east tailgate area and linking it to east seating enhancements. Move softball and baseball to the west campus to free up parking and tailgating options. The possibilities are endless. Yes, they will need many millions to do this, but perhaps some big donors are stepping up. Perhaps bond revenue may be available. Perhaps the state will finally recognize that NIU is worthy of investment. Dream big. Then make it happen.

Huskie stadium rumor
I would assume they would have some upfront commitments of note before any stadium renovation fundraising kickoff...

they are not going to tear it down nor are they going to put 40,000 un occupied seats in it. I think you will see a comprehensive plans to put in suites, pressbox, an hospitality area for donars maybe some seat expansion to maybe a legit 25,000 etc.
