Most exciting player I have seen in 30+ years. That includes high school, college, and pro players. He should enter the draft. Probably would go first round right now.

Ok, so I looked up the rules. Seems kind of stupid, to me. Oh, but education is soooo important, now, isn't it.

RE: 7-Foot-1 High School Sophomore
So the requirement to be drafted is that he has to be graduated from high school for at least one year? Does that mean that he is required to go to college for one year? Does this requirement mean that they intend players to be two or three years smarter or just mean that there won't be a glut of players in high school joining the draft?

RE: 7-Foot-1 High School Sophomore
After reading up about Thon Maker, he is ranked #1, nationally, for the class of 2016, although some say that his highlight films are beefed up and misleading. On his high school team he averages 21 points, 12 rebounds, five blocked shots, and shoots 80 percent from the free throw line. In off season league play, against taller and tougher competition, he averages just 7 points and 7 rebounds per game. Hmm? He weighs 210. I would assume that most college coaches would prefer that he beef himself up to at least 260 pounds, by the time he is 18. Seeing that he is only 16, he could very well be 7' 4", or taller, by the time he graduates high school.

No, they don't have to go to college. Make no mistake, the rule is only there to protect the NBA. It's so they have less of a chance of drafting HS kids that turn out as busts

I don't remember the kid's name, but there was a prospect recently that went to Europe and played for a year in a pro league there instead of going NCAA. Didn't work out real well for him, but I don't know if it was his talent level and work ethic, the coaching he got, being off the scout's radar, or what.

How did you not know about this rule? Don't you think Herb Harrison would've gone straight to the pros?

You guys just love to knock down Herb Harrison. I still believe his style of play would have provided a positive impact on the team two years ago.

Aww, we, or at least I, don't enjoy knocking Herb. We enjoy tweaking you about the intensity of your mancrush for Herb.

Didn't Brandon Jennings do that? It worked out okay for him if I'm remembering the guy correctly.

Brandon Jennings did do that a few years ago. He was still drafted very high and has had a very productive, although not successful, nba career so far.

He is the one who famously proclaimed the bucks would beat the heat in six games in the first round of the playoffs last year.
