We need a RB in this class too. He would be perfect.

Wow...talk about sad goals/expectations. They play Youngstown State, Texas State, and Western Kentucky. Third year in and the goal is two conference wins? I mean it's actually really honest and 5-6 wins is probably right...but that's still crazy to me
WKU is far from a gimme, they beat Kentucky their last 2 games.

Don't get all bent out of shape. Huskies have made an offer to
ATH Sutton Smith

as fast as Brown and 1 inch taller. NIU is his first offer.

With Nebraska, Kansas State and Mizzou already putting lots of offers out there for Atl/DB's as good as Smith is he may not get an offer from one of those 3 programs and if not, he'd be foolish not to commit to NIU

Doesn't appear on paper to be much difference, however it is disappointing we just can't seem to get the in-state kids to come here for whatever reason.

Keep the pipeline open to the southeastern states, and this is a non-issue.

Along with Kansas and Mizzou too.

It's not a knock against WKU. B1G teams shouldn't be concerned about playing Sun-Belt teams at home. And using "they beat Kentucky" to suggest they are a good program is a joke. Kentucky is 4-20 the past two years.

WKU also beat Navy last year, they are no joke. Yep B10 teams shouldn't be concerned about SunBelt teams at home but then again Illinois has been run like a D2 program the last several years. KY being 4-20 the last 2 years is precisely the reason why NIU should get them scheduled.
1) Lexington is only 429 miles from DeKalb, 2nd closest SEC school
2) An SEC win on your schedule looks good for Access Bowl considering no matter how bad a team they are as many CFB pundits believe the SEC is the best conference.

I don't think Kentucky would want us to come to their house unless they can get 6 wins without our game.

Yeah I'm agreeing with you that WKU is a good program. That's a great game for WKU and unless they dominate it's pretty much a no-win situation for Illinois. Playing UK would be pretty cool although their football program is so bad that I doubt anybody would really care.
Anyway, back to recruiting...

Having a future game on the schedule at Alabama, Auburn, Florida or TX A&M would help us better for recruiting than a win vs Kentucky the previous year.

One of the coaches tweeted that over 50 recruits will be at tonight's practice. Seems like several kids from Michigan based off of the RTs from our incoming kicker.
Coach Carey mentioned wanting people to come out tonight for practice.

EDGYTIM.com @EDGYTIM 1h
NIU hosting several top instate recruits including @GabeMegginson72 and @Q_Oseland78 today
Those are 2 of the top lineman and recruits in general in Illinois. Both also have a ton of bigtime offers, glad to see them visiting tonight

Kansas did a 1 for 1 with NIU, I hope building a relationship with more SEC teams is on the AD's agenda
