This guy has been committed to Florida Atlantic for about 5 months now but I don't mind us trying to be what we are used to receiving, the bigger guys who pouch recruits. He has great size at 6'2 for playing DB and he is from the Florida hotbed that we have been landing recruits from lately. FAU is a program on the rise though so we'll have to see what this guy is looking for in a school...

Ohhhh I just noticed that he has recently been offered by Miss St and Cincinnati too, so we'll see if his verbal sticks.

Sorry, this is off-topic, but, I took a look at Florida Atlantic's commits, and they have a kid named Jordan Scarlett. He has offers from Alabama, Florida State, Auburn, OSU and like 20 other schools. I really wonder what makes him choose FAU over anybody else. I think this will be an interesting watch to see where he lands as well.

FAU has a rather impressive recruiting class coming along...

For recruiting nerds, here's how many 2015 offers have been extended by the final 2013 AP Top 25:

Compare that to how many kids we have offered. Rivals has us listed with 55. That number is probably low by about 10- 20. WMU and UT have given out upwards of 200. I'm not saying we should be doling them out at that rate but it seems as if we are being a little stingy with offers, potentially missing out on kids who would be interested.

New offer to ILB Josh Corcoran out of Minnesota...this would be a good get.

Looking at his highlight tape on Hudl, this guy can STUFF the run up the middle. I don't think we have had many LB's with this type of size and speed in recent years? He is JUST as big as our DE's!

Would love to get some height and size at that position. This would be a solid get.

This guy has offers from 10 MAC schools and.... Indiana. Also has interest from Illinois. It's quite funny how far the bottom Big Ten teams have gone to pouch for recruits that are usually destined for mid major schools.

I think 247 is the go to site for recruiting now, so it seems. They have us at 59 offers which I am assuming is a little off as well but 247 seems to be more up to the task of keeping the recruiting details up to date.

I have talked about our early lack of offers for several years. The usual reply is we are much more selective. I think it is more that we are a bit slow to pull the trigger. The guy who really takes advantage of this [among many others] is PJ. He knows our recruiting style and always grabs a couple of 3* Illinois kids right away. The point is he does not even have to recruit against us at this eary point. It is a huge miscalculation on our part. JMHO.

That could be true. I think the coaching staff is starting to realize what these other MAC schools are doing and are offering more kids than usual at this point, including highly rated prospects who most likely would never come to NIU which I am okay with those offers as well.

I can't remember a time in recent years where NIU has had 10 commits at this point before the summer has even really kicked off, especially considering the top 4-5 guys committed are pretty highly ranked for what we are used to.

Agree as far as us being a little far as timing of our offers and even quantity of our offers.

That being said, while I have no stats to back it up, it "feels" like we have more offers out there than this time last year.
