I would imagine if this team wasn't in the race for a MAC Title, he would have gotten more than one game.

As I posted on our board, maybe to go medieval on the young man would be the proper course of action. Why not have him drawn and quartered at halftime of the next game.

If only there was some sort of punishment that was between a one game suspension and a medieval execution.
The poor guy lives in Toledo, what else do you want to put him through.

Toledo isn't bad, better than cornfields or murder capitol Chicago.

Hey, due to the polar vortex Chicago will drop that title it appears, shots are down by me, give us a break.

Seriously, since you've been carrying the banner for this, what was your take on Solich's failure to discipline his football players and the OU administration failing to discipline Solich with even a single game? I think enough UT fans are on record as agreeing that he should have had more but I am curious how much of this self rightous outrage was present in 2005?

It's ok. Solich didn't drink enough to get hammered on his own, it was also the drugs. What's that? That means he admitted to drinking & driving?!? 04-jawdrop I'm glad he was suspen...wait, what's that? He wasn't?!? A COACH? A university ADMINISTRATOR got a DUI. Admitted to drinking & driving. And was not suspended at all? THAT is a failure.

We would all like to know that answer. And to all the Bulls fans and perimeterpost who have stated that the one game suspension was an attempt to salvage the season because the Rockets need Drummond that bad...before the season, the only people on this board who even knew who Drummond was is Rockets fans. A couple weeks ago with Drummond, they lost to Ohio [on the road]. This week without Drummond, they beat Ohio [at home] and I think I heard on the radio driving home that his replacement recorded a double-double. As I said before, the Rockets are going to win [or lose] whether Drummond is there or not.

But seriously...did Ohio not suspend Solich for even one game? Normally I wouldn't care about that but I am clearly outraged now. 03-lmfao

Nope. But it was ok because, even though he said he was drinking - but not enough to be hammered! - someone supposedly drugged him. Still doesn't excuse the fact he drank and drove. Drug or no, he still drank and drove. And he was not suspended. The coach. The leader. Got a DUI. Was NOT suspended.

I love the quote from Eagle Totem

Quote:Here is the language from the Toledo Blade covering last night’s Toledo vs. Ohio game:

“The Rockets, minus a suspended starter, eventually became the more able-bodied team and dodged a bullet from Justin Drummond’s suspension with an 82-76 home win against Ohio.”

http://eagletotem.net/blog/2014/02/13/to...life/7007/
They dodged a bullet, did they? You know who else dodged a bullet — all the other people who shared the road with Justin Drummond last Saturday.

lol. I laughed just a little bit more at that than I did with your phrasing assault as "mixing it up." 04-bow

Solich's incident happened in late November after the season ended and he was placed on probation, I do not know exactly what that entailed or how much it effected him financially. I would have been fine with a suspension the falling fall or a dismissal.

You'll have to be specific on examples of Solich not disciplining his players, I'm not ware of any. Just this year Ohio's starting CB and backup QB were kicked off the team for arrests in August.

I understand you would have been fine with a suspension or dismissal. My question was whether you were outraged about Solich's wink and nod discipline and about the failure to discipline the players? Did you cover the OU board with messages complaining that he had no character and that the players and Solich himself should receive much more severe consequences?

As I said- for the most part you are speaking to the choir about Drummond. Many of us think he's getting off lightly. The choir would just like to hear a new sermon.

One game is light....when Germain Fitch got caught with marijuana in his car Dakich booted him from the squad. I would think something between the two penalties would be fair.

Now Fitch would ask for his release to transfer to a school in Colorado or Washington, I guess... 03-lmfao

I am surprised they don't have a handbook for all different scenarios that a player receives and signs. It should be the same if he is player 1 or 15.

That makes a lot of sense. Even if it is handled within the department the ADs office should set policy and not leave it to coaches who would certainly apply discipline inconsistently.
