By the way, THIS is what a good hoops league does for you... you can drop a game or two, stay ranked, and then climb back up. In our previous league, you drop one game you should've won and you're out of the rankings, likely never to be heard from again.

I'm still adjusting to this after so many years in CUSA (post-split). Dropping 5 games and still hanging on in the rankings to fight your way back up while the teams that beat us fight their way into a Top 25 spot. Friggin' love it

What's even worse is the projected brackets coming out with us as an 8 seed? Makes no sense. Hopefully we take care of business down the stretch and get a 3 thru 6 seed. Not much difference on those lines as far as quality of teams in second game.

Luckily, you can set your watch to the actual seed being 2 better than all Memphis haters have us at. A 6 seed seems a bit right.

I really almost wish Wineybooger were still on the air so someone could rub his nose in with 5AAC vs 2SEC.

Yet behind Louisville.

Polls are not an exact science.

Yeah, I expect to get a 6 seed if we go at least 2-2 against the remaining Uconn, Louisville, Cincy, SMU games and get to the AAC tourney semis or better. If we go 3-1 in these games, or win AAC tourney, I think our ceiling is a 3/4. Winner of this conference should be a 3/4, runner up a 5, and the others between 6 and 9 in my opinion.

It's good to be able to drop some games and not drop an entire seed line. We need to finish .500 or better against top 50 RPI to be a 6 seed or better... and right now we are 3-5 in that category.

And this year, a 3 through 6 seed is all pretty much same thing. Tough second round game either way. We need some luck with seeding. Had Memphis been the 6 seed in Arizona place last year we would have been in Sweet 16 too. All comes down to seeding and luck come tourney time.

so is the monkey really off coach's back now or what?

Not really.

He still hasn't beaten a non-conference, Top 25 team on a neutral court in Iowa on a Tuesday in February. Until that happens, I'm not buying in.

What i do not get is that last year we got a 6th seed with 0 Top 25 wins and just running the table in conference play. This year with wins against Okla St #5 at the time, Louisville #12 at the time, and Gonzaga at #23 at the time, and a close fight with Florida that's a 6th seed also. Right now i would say 4-5 Seed probably 4. just IMO.

True, UCF here Wednesday then at UConn Saturday on ESPN.

MEMPHIS then has three games against unranked opponents - @ Rutgers, Temple, @ Houston.

Then check out the end of the schedule - Louisville on CBS March 1, @ Cincinnati March 6 on ESPN, and finish at home against SMU (probably ESPNU). That could be three straight games against ranked teams.
