MAC Basketball Week Feb 10 - 16
Ohio @ Toledo headlines this week.

Then Toledo travels to Ypsilanti Saturday to meet EMU on HOF day during which Earl Boykins and Derrick Dial (two stars of the mid/late 90s) will be inducted.

In 1996, Earl Boykins averaged 26 ppg (per a USA Today article I have).

Where have the 20 - 25 ppg guys gone?

Where have the 10 rebs per game guys gone?

Hell, where have the MAC NBA draftees gone?

I HATED those two. What great players they were. Did Dial have a cuppa joe in the NBA? Seems like he did. Those were some star studded EMU teams.

Xavier Silas averaged 24-25 ppg a few years ago when he played for a terrible NIU team. He has been fighting to play professional ball since he left NIU. He's played overseas, in the D league, and has played in the NBA for the 76ers and Wizards.

This is going to be our version of "Hell Week" having to go to Toledo and Buffalo. A split would be fantastic but unfortunately I don't see that happening.

Apparently, Toledo's leading scorer Justin Drummond will not be starting Wednesday night due to do an alleged DUI. That should help out OU... Although it might not be enough to take down the Rockets at home...

Losing Drummond hurts. Not because he is our leading scorer but because it will kill our depth and normal rotations.

He will be back for EMU. Correct?

Advice for the Rocket Faithful: don't coming sleep walking into the Convo (the one up in Ypsi).

If the RPIs are to be believed, EMU is a strong foe...

Yep! He was a 2nd round draft pick of the Spurs. He bounced around the league for a couple years but never quite made it. Also had stints with the Magic, Nets, and Raptors.

meat-grinder tough!

I can offer Ohio fans some sympathy:

We went through a meat-grinder OOC with WI-GB, UMass, Purdue, Kentucky, Duke and Syracuse and then started the conference with MAC East foes which are a meat-grinder esp. for MAC West teams.

RE: MAC Basketball Week Feb 10 - 16
BTW, I found this by drilling down at the ESPN site:

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketba...eamId/2649

A poster above indicated that Ohio is about to go through the MAC gauntlet.

How about Toledo? Will their incredibly soft schedule which allowed them to rack up W after W get exposed this week?

I looked at the EMU schedule page and think the big difference between UT and EMU is that UT doesn't need to go on the road and schedule Kentucky, Duke, and Syracuse. They invite cupcakes to Toledo, draw nice crowds, pay the visitors well, I assume, and chalk up the 'W'.

Here is EMU's schedule/results and there are tremendous similarities to UT:

Look at wins 51 - 100, both schools (they're almost identical - both CLE State. UT - beat Akron; EMU beat WI-GB).

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketba...eamId/2199

The game Saturday should be a pick em game. UT might get shown not to be as good as their gaudy record and EMU better than their record (playing the #12 ranked SOS, per RPI).

You don't need to compare RPI and OOC schedule. EMU is 5-5 in the MAC. Hard to argue that EMU is better than middle of the pack MAC team.
