I like your summarized response better than mine. Communicates my message without the worthless wordiness I originally included. Thank you!

Memphis just hosted College Game Day and won the friggin' game with an awesome comeback dominating prime-time television.

Maybe one day we'll also lose the entitlement complex. We are MEMPHIS. Nothing more, nothing less. ESPN Sportscenter owes us nothing. Grateful ESPN chose MEMPHIS to host Game Day among their unlimited list of choices.

Sportscenter owes ever school out there a shoutout when they one of only only 2 top 25 matchups on the docket the entire day and they choose instead to show highlights of half a dozen games like UK vs Miss St.

Hosting gameday should guarantee your highlight package on sportscenter, not give an excuse to skip it entirely for less meaningful games.

For us out-of-towners, it was very nice to see Memphis featured so prominently on ESPN. Made me proud(er) of my hometown and school.

Unless I'm mistaken, I thought we were discussing the hosting of and display of an NCAA event on a private sports network, rather than a government welfare program. Why is any school owed anything by ESPN? I wasn't aware a private organization owes the public anything, much less a "shoutout when they one of only only 2 top 25 matchups on the docket the entire day."

Sportscenter is a media-driven private organization that owes NO school anything (outside of any contractual agreements of course).
Sportscenter is a private organization that can tell any organization to kiss it's @$$ if it wants to (outside of any contractual agreements of course).
Sportscenter decides and enforces it's own rules.

Hosting Game Day in Memphis was a CHOICE by ESPN. I feel privileged, not indebted to for a highlight segment.

Is this post a joke? You are seriously bringing up the government and welfare? 03-lmfao

I can see by this post you want to argue this to death, but I've made my points and stand behind them fully.

I fail to see how my criticism of late night sportscenter programming in ANY WAY disrespects the gameday crew or show. A morning edition of gameday has absolutely nothing to do with late night sportscenter programming choices. To skip our game and highlight the some of the ones they chose is just asinine imo.

My point isn't just about our team, its a point that millions of others had made countless times about ESPN. They had a choice to show highlights of a top 25 matchup and chose some less significant games with "name" schools instead.

I'm sorry of that offends you but that's just too bad.

Rather the opposite.

I was referring to the three consecutive sportcenters I recorded by mistake after 2am.

You must have watched sportscenter on ESPN classic because I saw the highlights as soon as I got to work and I work at midnight.

I can only speak for the 3 I have on DVR. All three after 2 AM. I checked them again....still no highlights. Half the show was about Marcus Smart.

I thought it was worth mentioning that night. Not really worth arguing about days later. 04-cheers

I did hear Jay Bilas say during the game that the block by JJ would be a sportscenter highlight. It probably would have if not for the Marcus Smart incident.

Yep, and I assume that they spent so much time on that and our game was over going right into sports center that they didn't have time to get it in, I never even saw a top ten on the SC immediately following the game or the next morning.

It's a shame, that was a great play that everyone should see.

people like that thrive on inferiority.

it's a lot easier to be a victim

SmartGate took over ESPN after our game. I stayed up til 12:30 (Eastern) trying to see the breakdown of our game, but maybe it was over too late to make the Late Saturday night rundown.

The next day SmartGate was in full swing, and I didn't see a top 10 all morning.
