You'll have a better chance getting Notre Dame to join than getting South Carolina to come back. They were smart enough to listen to their athletics leadership and leave when they did. They wandered in the wilderness for a while but now have received their reward. Anybody at that institution that would even consider coming back should be immediately institutionalized for evaluation because they have lost their minds.

South Carolina has already tried to re-join the ACC twice. I expect them to try again.

I know they did and you folks shot them down. Why do you expect that? What good does that do for the ACC or SEC?

It was Dook and Maryland.

OK, one fella is saying Carolina did it and the other fella is saying Duke and "turncoat" did. Who voted against South Carolina's attempt(s) to rejoin the conference?

MUWHAHAHAHA...!

There was never a "Vote".

For just two to block South Carolina, there had to be less than 12 in the league, so it could have been no later than 2003, prior to BC joining. I don't recall any serious talk about SC between 78 and 2003. SC had no reason to approach the ACC after 92, so this window had to be between 1978 and 1991. Who in his right mind would take SC over FSU?

History of SEC expansion...for South Carolina and Arkansas

My favorite part:

Quote:Four days after spurning Florida State, Kramer met with Miami, one of the two remaining expansion candidates. South Carolina’s trustees had preemptively voted to accept an SEC invitation should one come. Miami was decidedly less enthused...
Quote:...South Carolina was the last school standing.

So, while the SEC wanted Arkansas and Texas A+M, they settled for Arkansas and Florida State Miami S Carolina.
