Pirates take over in over time to win 73-83. Ladies are now 12-10 on the season.

RE: Ladies UAB vs ECU Game going to overtime
Karisma took it to them today, although the free throw and layup missing continued(she missed a wide open layup in the beginning of OT that would have given them the early lead), they went nearly 5 minutes in the game's opening without scoring a basket, down by as much as 15 but fought back like Amazon warriors and took as much as a 7 point lead themselves, very entertaining game, but heartbreaking outcome.

Brittney played the best game of her UAB career mixing it up with ECU's bigs and taking it to them inside, but missed a potential game winning, go ahead layup off a great pass from Karisma in the final 30 seconds of regulation. Ashley struggled early but hit some clutch jumpers in the 2nd half late, Kayla Anderson was an absolute "train wreck", 0 points, several missed layups and free throw attempts, and just didn't look at all confident or concerned out there (Coach, play Kasey Drayton, please!)...Don't have their names in front of me, but for East Carolina (who brought a large and loud contingent of fans, by the way, enjoyed talking at and with them during and after the game), #4, #1, and #23 just flat out destroyed UAB with their outside shooting...When I saw their W-L record (20-3) I went 04-jawdrop...Their conference tournament is going to be epic battles and matchups galore in El Paso. I've seen some damn good female basketballers in Conference USA this season.

Congratulations on the win, East Carolina. Damn good game that I wish UAB had (and should have) won.

ECU's #23 Payne was averaging nearly 20 pts a game and we held her to about 2 at the half. #1 Nelson came off the bench absolutely lit us up, especially from outside. When she had to sit with her 3rd foul, that opened the door for the comeback. #21 Trice is from Hampton, GA and the ECU cheering section was mostly her people.

You are absolutely right about Kayla Anderson. She has shown some flashes but too often looks lost on the court at both ends. I'm pretty sure we have not see Drayton on the floor this season.

It was good to see Miranda Burroughs start. She really hustles. Every basket Ashley Grimes made was a huge shot. She is my favorite on the team.

Miranda's more than likely, ,going to be one of the heir apparents after this season, when she's hot, she's as deadly as anyone on the court & I'm definitely going to miss Ashley when she graduates, she is one of a kind, and UAB needs more of her skill level on the roster, she can really get up, flies like "Wonder Woman." That is going to be a huge void to fill next season after the departure of Karisma Chapman and Ashley Grimes. Whatever's troubling Kayla, hope she works it out soon and plays up to her potential, I'm not sure she realizes how many people are depending on her to step up and represent.

I am really pleased with the progress Brittany Winborne has shown this season. She is picking up what Kayla is missing esp blocked shots & put-back pts

RE: Ladies UAB vs ECU Game going to overtime
I think Kasey is planned to be redshirted. From what I hear, she will be someone like Ashley and Karisma. Also heard that one of the others redshirting is near unstoppable. I think the bigs have played better than any I ever remember seeing under the previous staff - but Matrix is right - we are still missing a ton of 0-2 footers.
The biggest thing I like is they play with a lot of heart. When it was 19-4 early, I thought it was going to be a long afternoon.

The officiating was awful on both sides. Inconsistent. I have no problem with calling tickle fouls or letting them play physical, but not a mixture of the two.
