Leroy is definitely playing the John Fowler role.
He always draws the other teams best scorer to guard. And he's doing great in most instances. His problem in comparing him to John Fowler is that he doesn't have Solo, D'Andre, Matt, Alex and Courtney around to help him. So he doesn't seem as valuable. He is capable of scoring around double figures at times, but his value is as the shut down defender, but it's hard to appreciate his value because we don't have the scorers to help him out, especially if Will's hobbled, and James had been out.
So you have D'Vonte, who is a pass first point guard, so there's not much scoring help there, and James, who will probably give you 10-15 points when healthy, Will, who is capable of scoring, but these are both inside players.
Not big time shooters. D'Andre, Solo and Matt were capable of shooting well from the perimeter, which opened up the inside. Unfortunately we didn't have them with Will and James. Think of what we could have done with that group. So congrats to Leroy. He's our tough, do the dirty work, blue collar player. You need some like him, but you need shooters to go with him to have a really successful team. We haven't had that this season.
