What's the dilemma?
I sort of explained what I think that meant in my post (page 1):
Part of the reason NIU is successful is because they are able to find good players that go under the radar. If we get away from that in the future, we may lose some of those 'Jordan Lynch' type players.

Yep, he's saying what if we get guys that don't have that chip on their shoulder?

Why would we get away from that? Its not an either/or scenario....
There is no dilemma.

I think it's meant to be a general warning. Don't take it so seriously!

RE: Edgy Tim's thoughts on NIU Recruits
EDGY is a cool guy. I, myself, dont always agree with what he says but you, it is what it is. Its his job to give his opinion on certain things. I dont pay for his insight but I do follow him a bit. I dont know his background but I usually go with my own eyes when it comes to recruits and how they may translate to the college level. I just like listening to the guy for another point of view. As for the article......mehh.....there have been WORSE things said about us. Kirk 'HERB' Street, aint too high on my list, but hey, just go out and prove 'em wrong!

In some cases it is...if you get a player that had big time offers and expects to play right away...you potentially lose some of that chip. Not always the case, but it's fair commentary.

Who cares what state they're from? Either the class is good or it isn't, regardless of state.

You can't make in state kids come here. Ask U of I how well they do. Kids want to go away. We offered alot of in state kids but some went to WMU, Toledo, CMU, BG, Wyoming, etc.
I doubt it was from lack of trying on our part.
Plus, maybe better players elsewhere

All Edgy cares about is Illinois high school. That's his gig. End 'o story.

RE: Edgy Tim's thoughts on NIU Recruits
Yeah...I'm not sure why this is so hard for folks (not just on here and writing these articles) to understand. MANY high school kids want to get away for college, and if they have a free ride choice to a bunch of different places, plenty are going to choose to go elsewhere.
The in-state advantage should be that you more closely watch the in-state recruits, so you should technically find more diamonds in the rough in-state.

Who cares what state they're from? Either the class is good or it isn't, regardless of state.
Exactly, it happens to many G5 programs; Ball State has made a living recruiting out of Cleveland because some Cleveland kids want to be close to home but still go out of state and be far enough away from their parents. Kent & Akron recruit PA hard for that same reason.
NIU has made a killing in IN over the last 10 years. What would Huskie football be without Harnish, Spann, Jason O(offensive center I can't spell his name) Matt Krempel, McIntosh , Na Palm, Tracey Wilson and Hammock.
Done well in Wisky with Free, Wedige and a host of others
Minny has produced Rice, Nordin,
NIU's edge over it's MAC competition is it's ability to pull talent out of states that either have only 1 other D1 football program (Wisky, Minny & Mizzou) or from a state that has 1 or more major football programs that either is down or has been down for a long time (UKansas, U Indiana, U Purdue).
