All I hear is that the top candidates at this time for the Big 12 IF they were to expand continue to be: UCF, USF, UConn, BYU, Cincinnati in no particular order.

^ I would say Memphis would be one of the top candidates too as they fit in very well with the southern culture and are in the vicinity of both Cincy and WVU.

I think we've reached a point at which even realignment-junkies are simply getting a headache from thinking about this topic anymore.

Your list is laughable, and the above poster is correct. This subject has been done ad nauseum. Vandy as an ACC candidate?

I wont comment on it all because quite frankly it is hard to read, that is not a slight, just recommending you look into how you format these kind of posts when you create them. Nice to see folks still theorizing though.

In regards to your Big Ten musings. A little tip from a Big Ten guy, any scenario that includes Iowa State as a possible target, is not something I would take seriously at all. Listing Baylor is about as bad. Texas is a funny State in that regard. There really is only one school there that could possibly fit in with The Big Ten.

Memphis may get blocked because of academics and the historically poor performance of the football team.

They aren't discussed much in regards to the B12 but I really like Houston's chances since they bring another large school into the footprint, solid enough academics and that new football stadium.

I have a difficult time seeing the B12 a football first conference that sends its champ to the Sugar Bowl against the SEC to add a weak football team. They've always added the strongest football program available when back filling (WVU, TCU in that order).

Well yeah, if you think that about 500 miles to Cincy and 750 to Morgantown are "in the vicinity of both". 07-coffee3

Not that different than Atlanta to Miami in the ACC. Its pretty much in the same region and brings Morgantown at least a bit closer to the rest of the B12.

Memphis is definitely a southern town. Its about as southern as you can get. That you will get no disagreement from me.

However, I don't think the B12 views itself in any shape or form as a southern league. Its a Texas-Oklahoma conference, a distinct region onto itself. I say it thinks of itself as less southern than the ACC does even with the northern additions. North Carolina is another strong southern bastion.

Dude, it is ridiculous to say that Memphis and WVU are in the same vicinity. About as silly as saying the same thing of Miami and Atlanta.

Not at all given how spread out the B12 is and how separated apart WVU is from the next team. Tennessee is only separated from Ohio and West Virginia by Kentucky and next to Kansas.

Yes, and Louisiana is only separated from New Mexico by Texas. But that doesn't make New Mexico State and LSU in the "same vicinity".

Nobody in West Virginia considers Memphis to be in its vicinity, or vice-versa. That's because they are 750 miles apart.

UCONN is a better regional rival to West Virginia than Memphis, not to mention being old Big East opponents.

Morgantown to Memphis - 750 miles
Morgantown to Storrs, CT - 525 miles
