I don't think the majority of people here have the same mindset as many of the folks hanging out in the G&G room.
People talk about the increased price as though nobody will be willing to donate it. Keep in mind that many if the donors already donate more than that...they don't view it as a per meal price, they view it as a tax deductible donation that comes with perks

I don't know what the current donation is, $1000? The people who are already paying a $1k donation before the cost of the tickets most likely are able to pay more if need be. By the standards of many other schools, our prices are bargains. My current seasons require $100 per seat plus the tickets and will be going up $50. I imagine we'll pay it and stay where we are. I like my seats, and I support UAB Athletics.

There will be people who unable or unwilling to pay more. The department knows that, they're just betting that the majority of the fans will cough up a bit more. Bottom line is that we gripe, but on the scale of things our prices are pretty low.

Go look at Louisville's tickets. The bad nosebleed seats are $19 each purchased singly. Season tickets are on a waiting list to get the chance to pay a whole lot more than we do. Yes, National Champions, but their prices have been huge for years. In their case, basketball subsidizes football.

There are four tiers of donations, plus the faculty/staff/ former lettermen level. Brace yourself. Hit the seating chart link at the bottom to get a sense of what that money buys, particularly Tier 3 and 4.

* Priority I: 4 Seats: $1,600 Annually + Minimum Gift of $150,000 (payable over 5 years); 2 Seats: $1,600 Annually + Minimum Gift of $100,000 (payable over 5 years)
** Priority II: $900 Annually + Minimum Gift of $25,000 (payable over 5 years)
*** In order to obtain seats in the faculty/staff & L-Club sections, you must first be a full-time faculty or staff member at the University of Louisville, retired from the university with full benefits or be a former U of L letterwinner with proper L-Club Membership.

I really think since it will be an add on, few will choose to do the G&G room next year. Probably so few that something will change for the following year. Or maybe they will try to keep it elite, and have few in there, who knows.

The G&G room wasn't designed or intended to be used by the capacity of people that are using it now during basketball games. But unless someone donates money to have it redone, its unlikely to be budgeted to get a facelift. I am sure someone in athletics can give you a price on how much of a donation it will require and gladly accept your check and give you naming rights on it.

Yea it may be only 6 or 7 times but it's 20+ times the people each time. The room is almost 100 yards long and packed every game.

Yeah I am thinking about dumping the G&G next year. It's a lot to pay for crappy food and a stat sheet.

If you were thinking about it as buying food and not a donation to the school you weren't doing it right. Not to say that UAB should put out a shoddy product for things like this, but you shouldn't expect a $1000 experience since most of that money is meant to go to the athletics department, not costs of the G&G room.

Green and Gold Room Access is anadditional 350 per seat. For example, last year a Blazer clud donation of 900 got you in Sections 105, 106, 115, 116 and then you purchase your ticket. Now it's 1,250. If you don't want Green and Gold access and keep the seat it's a 1,000. So it's 1,250 - 900 or 350 increase.

If these are legitimate concerns about how Green and Gold is run, just find Claire and let her know. She and the rest of the team are a pretty responsive bunch and they will definitely hear you out.

Claire is the tall blonde one. If you can't find her, just ask any UAB Ambassador and they should be able to point her out for you.

I've been to the G&G room three times this season, as a guest with a true Blazer fan. I think it's a fun experience and I'm glad to see so many dedicated UAB fans enjoying the area and interacting with one another. There are a lot of nice blokes in there that share the same passion for the school that you do. I dig it.

I've been to the G&G room three times this season, as a guest with a true Blazer fan. I think it's a fun experience and I'm glad to see so many dedicated UAB fans enjoying the area and interacting with one another. There are a lot of nice blokes in there that share the same passion for the school that you do. I dig it.

Would you say there was a plethora?

a bunch of padded folding chairs along the walls would go a long way to fixing the problem.
