WLW/Bill Cunningham
I know I should stop listening, but I wanted to hear Chuck Machock who was on with Bill Cunningham just now.

Every time Cunningham speaks to anybody associated with UC basketball, he essentially asks them "why is Mick Cronin still coaching at UC?". He continues to say Mick is not happy - pointing out arena issues, conference issue, and that he could make more money somewhere else.

Is this because Cunningham is an Eggzavier supporter? Or does he really have inside information with Cronin about him being unhappy? Or is he just trying to rile up people like me?

Probably a little of all 3. I have heard Mick plays golf with BC at times. BC is a clown.

Yes he is an Eggzavior blowhard, and yes he is trying to rile you up. Im sure Mick isnt thrilled with fan support though, and may be frustrated with the recent focus on football, but I think he understands it.

The radio show hosts around here don't ever talk about on the field, on the court UC topics. They bring UC up when we lose a coach/AD, when attendance is bad, they LOVE to lecture us as to why they don't talk about about college sports (we NEVER get phone calls etc. etc. *cough* Egger *cough*) or they say inflammatory things to illicit response (*cough* Lance *cough* Bill *cough*). Very rarely if ever will you hear X's and O's, keys to the game, or even in depth analysis.

He did get around to asking Chuck the keys to the game and they discussed it a little. Machock spoke about Napier and Boatright and slowing them down.

Color me shocked. Headed in the right direction.

RE: WLW/Bill Cunningham
For Willie, the truth really hurts: UC is towering over X in basketball right now and creating an enormous shadow over their much ballyhooed entrance into the new Big East. What's not to like about Cincinnati's team--record, top 10 ranking, #2 projected seed, AAC getting more NCAA bids than the new Big East? So Willie resorts to thinly veiled implications about how the creator of all this recent success (Mick) is unhappy and we should worry that he'll probably be out the door after this season.

He could find a dark cloud in any sunny story regarding UC. Another good reason to tune out.

RE: WLW/Bill Cunningham
I'm sure Mick has issues with the administration, I would to if I were him. The arena is terrible and UC's athletic budget is just flat out horrible or at least it has been. I dont know if it has improved in recent years but I remember reading a few years ago UC's athletic budget was the worst out of all the BCS programs, including the recruiting budget for both football and basketball. With that said, Cunningham is all about ratings and the dramatic. Not a good source at all for information of this kind.

RE: WLW/Bill Cunningham
I used to really enjoy Cunningham, but got annoyed at his treatment of UC a couple of years ago and have hardly listened since. Too bad, I used to listen to WLW all day long. First I had to quit 6-9 SportsTalk when Furman ruined that, then the 3-6 slot because of its idiocy, then Cunningham's 12-3 slot. Don't mind Sloan from 9-12, but I really quit listening to that slow when McConnell left. That leaves just good old Jim Scott in the mornings and Red's games on summer nights.

I try to temper my reaction when listening to them.

Lance had TT on around 6 last night. Straight forward fair interview 2 hours later he had Stoops on and it was a UK pep rally for 30 minutes talking about how SW Ohio is now in-state recruiting for UK and how Lance follows all of UKs recruits on twitter. Think Lance had to change his shorts after that.

Lance is a complete clown. UK's might have landed a good class by their standards but it still finished 10th or 11th in that conference depending on what serivce you look at. I've been following a discussion on some of the SEC boards and almost everyone on those agree UK's class is very overrated. A lot of their 4-stars had marginal offer lists, especially the Ohio guys. Outside of Barker and 1 or 2 other guys their highest rated signees are not impressive at all. You aren't winning anything of importance in the SEC when the majority of your top rated guys are mid-tier Ohio prospects that other SEC schools, OSU, Michigan and Notre Dame never recruited or offered.

I like willie's political views at times but most of his interviews are pretty hyped up. Trying to get a big story out of nothing. Micks seems very, very happy at UC and he said when he took the job, that it is his Dream Job at last. He just moved into a new home with his daughter. If Mick ever leaves, it will be from either getting fired or UC completely ignoring everything he asks for in the program.
Don't let Bill Cunningham get you all down.

good tip - thanks. Titus should have some interesting comments based upon his recent article (see Rothstein/Cronin thread).

I will definitely listen to Titus. I was a huge fan of his blog when he was at Ohio State and continue to read his stuff at Grantland.

Seth Greenberg might have PTSD returning to the Shoe, given the amount of times Huggs and UC b*tch slapped his USF teams.
