RE: FIU
Hopefully we find a way to win both of these road games. We can't take too many more losses without winding up in a pretty bad spot in the conference tournament. We need to win the games against the bottom half.

RE: FIU
When just using D-1 games, this matchup between UAB and FIU will feature two of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the country. UAB is hitting 30.6% of its 3 pointers, which ranks 308th. FIU comes in at 28.1%, or 342nd in the country.
Both teams shoot about 19-20% of their shots from behind the 3-point arc.

My money is on they hit 5+. For real though, I think this is going to a turning point game for this team. I think they're finally grasping the urgency.

I think this will be a turning point game too. And at this point it can send us one way or the other.

RE: FIU
I think it's a bad sign that the team didn't have a change of heart after losing 3 of 4 to start CUSA and losing to UNT. Will knowing that realistically we can't win CUSA or get into the NCAAs cause the team to continue to come out with lackluster performances? I hope not, but I have my doubts after the ECU stinker. There's still a lot to play for.
If someone isn't playing with heart or producing, bench them (e.g. Swing or Purifoy). Start giving Watts, Mehinti, and even Madison, more and more minutes. Yes MB, I know Haase has started doing this already, but even a few minutes given to people who will actually have a positive impact on the game could be the difference in closely contested outings (given our shooting woes and inability to blow anyone out, most of our games will likely be close ones). AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD QUIT SHOOTING SO MANY THREES.

I wonder if there's another team in the county with a bigger swing in terms of RPI win and loss.

Holy hell.
Before that the only one I could think of that was close was Clemson who lost to Auburn (195) and then hammered Duke (9).

We can still realistically win C-USA and we can still realistically make the Big Dance. Just because we are behind 3 games in the conference doesn't mean our champion won't have 4 losses. It doesn't look good right now, but it isn't impossible for the leaders to falter just a little. And we have to win the conference tournament. Short of going 15-1 or better in conference play we had to do that. We knew that going into conference play. I'm hoping that Rob lit a fire under everyone's ass, and we come out with intensity every game from here on. A top 4 spot in the conference is definitely not out of the picture, we just need to start winning now.
As far as benching Purifoy, that has essentially been done. Swing has also seen a huge drop off in minutes. I'm with you on no shooting so many 3's though.

We've played really well against teams who shoot the 3 poorly. Well, except North Texas. I expect both these next two games to be like the Tulsa game.

I like it. I like all of the new unique courts that teams are unveiling. Ours seems very conservative in comparison
