It was the refs. The Blade has a nice shot of #22 from BG hacking Spoon. Probably wasn't hard to find an opportunity to take picture like that.

BG's starters were tired and in foul trouble near the end. More good coaching by Coach K. BG will be a force next year if their new coach can find some bench help.

I don't know about that...other than enjoying some blocked shots and some threes, they looked like JV kids trying to play against the varsity. Toledo was way more athletic while the BG kids looked almost clumsy most of the time. I kept thinking to myself that I seem to remember Toledo recruiting that Tisdale kid and that song "unanswered prayers" kept popping into my head. Do you feel like that with a new coach, any of their kids would start ahead of any of Toledo's current starters if they were on the Rockets roster?

The only reason that the score was so close throughout most of the second half is because that is how Coach K's team plays...they play soft D and let the other team get into foul trouble and then ratchet it down at the end. The talent gap is wider than that score differential in my humble opinion.

If holmes played smart he would have made the game pretty tough. I could see him starting ahead of Boothe, although Boothe is a true center and Holmes isn't. But BG is very young and reasonably athletic except for Black. If they don't all play 32+ minutes I think they'll be alright. They have beaten some good MAC teams and put up 36 against NIU.
