The coaching staff just needs to get the kids to visit the campus. El Paso sells itself at that point. We just need the right coaches. We can have a winner. I hope Kugler is the man to do it.

Those are just excuses, I mean UTSA shouldn't even have a basketball team with 800 people in the stands... I know the UTEP BB players, truly appreciate the 8k+ fans... Now can the same be said for football? El Paso should be able to produce a winner, it just takes the right person. Price knew his stuff, but he got "old"er... and like was said... He brought his friends and kids into the equation, which led to his down fall... I for one hated watching last season, they looked horrible. but like others have said... Kugler seems to be bringing in the kind of players HE wants, best of luck! Go Miners!

This is the absolute truth. One of our recruits visited Iowa and was offered by the Hawkeyes. Then he visited UTEP and committed to the Miners the next day and was quoted as saying that UTEP was by far the best school he had visited. Also, coach Kugler said they had 26 football players visit and signed 23 of them. That's a damn high ratio. The problem for UTEP recruiting is just getting players to visit in the first place. If he can turn the program around, getting visits will be a lot easier. Winning cures all ills. But then you have that vicious circle, you need players to win but you need to win to attract players. We will see how this all works out by the end of 2015, according to Kugler.

He knew football. I truly believe that.
However, IMHO his insistence on having his son be an offensive coordinator, and his loyalty to other bad coordinators caused him to underachieve as a coach.

Didn't he have both his sons on his staff? One of them, Eric I believe, was a terrible OC. Most teams knew what the next play was going to be, too predictable ala David Lee.

Well, seeing how there are 1,500 players in the NFL and a limited amount of 4 star players, and an extremely limited number of 5 star players, of course there are more 2 and 3 star players on every team.
