Twitter absolutely loves Lion King. My roommate wrote a quick write-up for him at Hustle Belt, and it's already blowing up with hundreds of views.

Lion King Conaway, a DE out of Southfield HS that signed his LOI with EMU today.

CC did close strong with some three star recruits, will be interesting to see if he kept any in his pocket in case players on the roster decide not to return, transfer etc. or there are some five year players out there.

Probably more to say this afternoon.

are you all happy with this class? how does it compare with an average English class? how about an average Genyk class? how does it compare with your expectations for a guy who only had a month to put together a recruiting class?

It's a solid class considering the short timeline and EMU's football history. This may not be the best EMU class in terms of talent but it was nice to see a lot of kids from the Midwest, especially MI. If the team performs relatively well this fall then the next few classes could be even better.

I may be in the minority but I'm glad that there are no JUCO's. Nothing against JUCO's but I got the feeling that RE was depending a little too much on that route.

we have been playing in the weeds of this recruiting experience the last month or so.

I'm not too worried about stars, offers, flips, getting flipped, etc.

My big take aways are that 1). CC is a very hard working recruiter.

2). He is trying very hard to establish a beachhead in the metro Detroit area. That is very significant for the long term success of the program both on the field and at the gate and PR wise. EMU FB can not be MIA in schools in SE MI.

I'd like to see 10 - 12 recruits each Feb. come from Metro Detroit. Let CMU have players from Mt. Pleasant, Traverse City, etc. For WMU, K'zoo, Grand Rapids, etc. I want EMU to have Saginaw, Flint, Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti, Detroit, rest of Wayne and Oakland counties, etc.

Its really a typical class some very solid ranked players with FBS and/or MAC offers and a sprinking of a few question marks. Lets go back to English's first class we all remember ohh and ahh at guys like Payne, Kinsman Thomas and Moffett three stars. In the end the guys like Hoskins and Sorgatz were the real stars of the class. The key for CC will this class is RETAINING most of them, being able to redshirt them teach them and hit the weight room and conditioning. I was surprised to get Francis, the DB from Cincy and Jones the WR. I suspect we'll be surprised at the areas the new assistants have connections with. And CC did a smart thing rather than reinvent the wheel he closed what English and staff had started.
