I just flew in for a job interview and turns out my Hotel is right next to your campus. Can't wait to drive around and check it out when the sun comes up tomorrow. Also it's awesome to wear shorts and a t shirt in February.

Please let us know how everything goes, and your impression of the campus!

Some must see buildings on campus: Athletics Pavilion including the CFE Arena, Jay Bergman Field, IPF, Brighthouse Networks Stadium; The Rec and Wellness Center, All 3 Engineering Buildings, Reflection Pond...

Must do's: 4RIVERS BARBECUE (if you don't do anything else, go here.), Lazy Moon, some of the local bars (Knight Library = College Bar, but there are plenty of other options)

Anyone else care to pitch in?

Also, take pictures if you are so inclined :)

Hope you have fun!

Against USF I might add. A better game to visit this season cannot be had.

I don't think I will be in town long enough for the game, but thanks for the invite. I'll be doing a few facebook checkins and pictures tomorrow. I will have to hit that bbq joint you mentioned. It sounds great.

OldTiger, I watched a UMP show in Ohio when I was working in Michigan last summer. Awesome show. Thanks for the wishes. This job will be a dream job if I get. I can stay living in Oklahoma. Just have to fly up here (Orlando) to headquarters every so often.

Grew up in Tulsa and used to go every weekend to the old1/2 mile dirt track at the fairgrounds. That was back in the days of Emmet Hahn. George Armstrong, Jim Lambert, and Junior Taft (RIP). Man those were good days. The new track on I-75 just never did anything for me.

May I suggest parking and walking around campus. You don't really get a good sense of it by driving around the outer circle (Gemini Blvd).

At the very least park in one of the metered spaces next to the welcome center and then walk toward Millican Hall (building behind welcome center) and look at the library and reflecting pond. The welcome center is right at the end of Central Florida Blvd.

If you have more time, walk past the library to the student union and out the other side. This will give you a good scope of the interior of campus.

Main Campus is over 1,400 acres and there are 500 acres of open wilderness right next to it. Could easily grow another 10-15,000 students if those damn turtles would leave (endangered).

I know years ago they talked about having room for a golf course on campus + other random stuff. Space is definitely not an issue at UCF. And neither is weather in Orlando this time of year. Another day in the 80's.

There's some names on that list I hear about all the time. I got to run the last season at the Tulsa speedway on I 75 before it closed down as well. Emmet Hahn actually sponsored a non wing sprint show to run on the horse track (old tulsa speedway) a few years ago. Just didn't have the same feel to it from what I hear.

As well as a good peek at some of the coeds, err...sights.

Also, check out Huey Magoos for some awesome chicken.

Yeah, that whole place has a different vibe to it since they converted it to a horsetrack. Plus there was always noise ordnance issues at the Fairgrounds. I think after midnight the locals got pretty irrate. Didnt realize the I-75 track shutdown. So where does a dirt track race fan get their fix now? I don't remember a lot of options in NE Ok for dirt tracks.

OKC all that's left?

I'm a little late, but welcome! Hope you are enjoying your visit and that your interview went well.

I must say I am not complaining about the 80 degree weather in February after the nasty rainy week we had last week.

I know I am biased, but I think we have an amazingly beautiful campus.

Creek is close, Meeker not to far. I run at Caney valley speedway just across the border into Kansas.

Thanks, we may have discussed that before. That sounds familiar.
