Exclamation Interest in the Old HRS Turf
This was brought up in a different thread but I'm just curious of the actual interest. Would you be interested in a piece of the old turf with the purchase/renewal of your football season ticket(s)?

Let's just assume one piece per account/block of tickets.

The reason I ask is that I was curious what happened to the old HRS turf and went asking. I was told the department had kept some of it (the end zones, the R in the middle) and they were debating the best way to go about putting it to use. This was an idea and so I thought I'd see the interest level around here.

I'd mentioned this somewhere else. As a Owl Club contributor, but not a season-ticket holder (commute from LA is tough), can it be acquired a la carte?

Don't know on that one right now. Just knew this idea was floating so was trying to gauge interest. Sorry I can't be more help.

I hope they save some to redo the ring around home plate at Reckling. The washed out green astroturf there now really detracts from the real grass.

If it is the end zones and the big R from the 50 yl, perhaps it might be better to incorporate it into the new EZF in some way, perhaps as a place for kids to run around whilst their adults are watching the game. Could still collect donations on a square foot basis with donors' names displayed somewhere adjacently.

You beat me to it. I was thinking late last night about displaying the old turf on the upper concourse (The Roost) and in other parts of the stadium. I think it would add a lot to the atmosphere at HRS. If nothing else, kids would love to play football on it while the adults watch the game. Incorporate it in the kids zone, which my son loves. Be creative with it.
