RE: Kilpatrick 2000
a very lenghthy ode to Sean from Mo....good stuff.....

http://www.espn1530.com/onair/mo-egger-9...-12045645/

I don't know what the future holds for Sean Kilpatrick, nor do I want to think about how they'll make up for UC will lose when he leaves. I do hope that in Sean's remaining time at UC, fans take time to realize what they have. While so many other topics have surrounded the basketball program, this guy has flourished and blossomed into one of the best players in the university's history. He's having a remarkable senior season and in the past few weeks, he's played some of the best basketball of his life when his team has demanded it. And frankly, I don't think we've talked about him enough.

It's been a while since we've seen anything like him. And you don't know when we'll see anything like him again.

Just now on ESPN GameDay, Digger Phelps just picked SK as his 2-guard for his "draft team".

watching Gameday. Glad to finally see the SK and the Bearcats getting some recognition. Was bummed when they showed their projected 1 and 2 seeds that UC wasn't up there. But there is still time to make a case for a top 2 seed for the Bearcats. #justwin

Right now UC is sitting right on the border or a 2,3, or 4. At that point its about who you play, location, and a little bit of luck. You could rank UC anywhere from 5 to 14 on the "S-Curve" without getting a big argument from me.

Back to SK, I wish we had the audio when Cronin talked about SK early in his career. He basically said he was going to be one of the better players ever to be a Bearcat.

Didn't Jerry Palm have UC projected as a 2 seed earlier in the week? Way to early to tell realistically but it sure beats sitting closer to the bubble like we've done at this stage the past few seasons.

Yea. And Lunardi has us as the lowest 3 seed. I think as of today we'd be looking at a 2-4 seed and you could really argue either way. I don't think we'd be lower than a 4. Most likely a 3. We can still play our way all the way up to a 1...hypothetically.

Plenty of opportunities to come but what I worry about is when we lose a game the pollsters will jump all over it and drop us big time.

Eh. I don't worry about that at all. We have complete control of the resume we put together for the selection committee to look at. Selection committee has never cared about the polls. I also don't think UC would plummet from 1 loss.

1939

"The guy's going to be -- knock on wood -- the second guy in the history of this program to score over 2,000 points," coach Mick Cronin said. "He's maybe the most underrated great player who has ever played here."

So that puts him 61 away from 2000. If he can average 1 more than his average of 19.8 these next 3 games, then he would break 2000 at home against Louisville on the 22nd. That'll get the people going.

Should SK's number be retired. A little premature perhaps.

I think the requirement is consensus POY.

He is certainly deserving of making some All-American teams and should get his name on the North wall of 5th/3rd for that honor before next season.

Seems like that would be a great way to get some attendance next year against some lesser competition. Retire or at least honor Fortson, Logan, SK's jerseys on separate nights.

If they don't want to retire them at least have some kind of ring of honor.

I really like the idea of having a "Ring of Honor" type recognition for players who went "above and beyond" while not quite meeting the Consensus POY stipulation for jersey retirement.

UC has way too many great players to only celebrate a few of them. Seems really dumb to me.

I don't think Jack Twyman was ever POY but that in no way diminishes the retirement of his jersey. I think the criteria UC is using is having to have graduated which Fortson didn't and I don't think Logan did either. That said, if that is the criteria it is too restrictive because Fortson and Logan along with several others deserve to have their jerseys retired.

I could probably name about 8 who I would list in the group above the AA recognition and below retiring a jersey. I don't think that's ridiculous to do something to celebrate them.
