I don't see him breaking into the lineup as a QB, a year from now. Given the fact that whoever wins the job this spring, will be back and have a year of experience. Like you said though, nothing to lose.

I'm betting he ends up as a safety or wide out.

He has more experience than anybody on the roster.

I'm cool with it as long as he doesn't get a scholarship this year anyhow. If he earns it of course that's a different story but not this year when we are limited and have three pretty talented prospects already.

It's wierd to have a large supply of QBs at UCF. Not sure we have had 4 QBs on the roster in the O'Leary Era. I have faith in OC Taaffe to develop another great QB in the coming years.

On Patti: he short and doesn't know the system. Will be an asset on the scout team as he sits out on transfer. I'm a little confused on why he wants UCF now. I guess Welcome Back Home to Orlando but I'm not sure he will ever see playing time

Gabbert and Bortles leave, two new QBs come in. Not to mention having Godfrey who came in at QB in wild knight formations.

Gabbert left before the start of the season. Which is why true freshman Holman had to play. I always felt we were going to try to RS the 2 freshman but then Gabbert screwed that up.

I guess my post was more towards not having big QB competitions. It's always been a 2 man race but this year we have 3-4 legit contenders.

I'm just saying I remember the Greco/Isreal battles and looking back and saying they were both terrible.

Yeah. The good news is I don't see a repeat of that, since Holman has already shown he's pretty good. So I feel confident about the position having seen just 1 of the 4 options play.

That said, when you lose potentially the #1 overall draft pick, there's going to be big step back at the position.
