Two teams would even out the divisions.

Would the Leafs have to big of a stranglehold on the Toronto market to where another team couldn't flourish?

Quebec had the Nordiques.

I think Seattle might would work if the money makers can angle for a NBA/NHL arena and land BOTH.

Re: NHL Expansion
Seattle and Portland as a pair would be nice, instant rivalry not only amongst one another but also with Vancouver.

These weren't for lack of fan support. Some decent ownership and you'd have a successful situation.

However, I couldn't care less if there's a hockey team in Atlanta. I don't think there's any interest from a prospective owner, or the league anyways.

Yeah, I read about that ownership group kind of ruining the Thrashers staying... not sure how the league would want to go back to a city that has already been through two stints though...

While I get you, the NHL needs a southern presence to keep it relevant for more of the country. In other words, you need teams in your area for you to care about it.

True, I just don't think Florida deserves a 2nd team in the panthers, fan supports never been good.

The Caps and Canes might be the only reasons Virginia doesn't happen, but there would be the lure of a new arena, and a state without a team of its own. The big catch may be the regional TV rights - I think Fox uses Fox Sports Carolinas for at least parts of Virginia, but it may be an opportunity for them to set up a dedicated Virginia channel. There would also be MASN/MASN 2.

Virginia would also be of some value to NBC/NBCSN - the three Virginia based DMAs have over 1.7 MM TV Households, which would fall between Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and Minneapolis/St. Paul. It's also a short trip from Raleigh or Washington for production crews.

Well...they have FOX Sports South which I believe goes as far north as NC. I believe Tennessee is tied to that and then you move downward to Florida. FOX Sports Carolinas is a subset and I think ONLY does NC and SC. However, they have been known to show Predators(NHL) games on replay, Hawks games (on replay), and I want to say Braves games LIVE too.

The Hurricane's radio guy likes the ideas of Seattle and Quebec, but thinks Kansas City has merit.

Seattle fans would be crazy to have, should use the Junior Hockey Team's logo that is out there. "Seattle Thunderbirds" search it.

I'd love to see an NHL team in Salt Lake City. However I haven't heard of any rumblings for that possibility. MLB would probably hit Utah before NHL.

When Bettman finally gives up on his AZ Coyotes dream, they could move to SLC.
