I asked the question before the season whether EMU would finish above .500 this season (the previous two we've been right around .500) and right now that's still an open question.

I shudder to think about what happens next year without Riley, Harrison, and Bryant and also two reserve Strickland who gives 110% and Hughley (sp).

The loss of Riley will be no big deal he has been underwhelming at best for or the hype.

My guess is that we will hard pressed to even make the tournament. I think it will come down to the last game of the MAC season. If we don't make the tournament my other guess is that Murphy will be let go. He to has been underwhelming since his first year.

I'm not sure what you are getting at.

And I disagree about being 'underwhelming since his first year'. He is in his third year and has a good team after inheriting an empty cupboard.

My theory on HS recruits is that they don't care to play at EMU because of the lack of attendance and/or support for the team. Most all these local kids play before more people while in HS than EMU's players play before in the Convo.

Don't quite understand why we can't recruit more locals, we have great facilities and a great recruiting base in Michigan but we seem to underacheive in regards to recruiting and winning.

Lets hope the season turns around soon.

I've never been a fan of recruiting locally it like hiring coach's that have a connection to EMU hasn't worked so well.

Honestly I would be flabbergasted if EMU finished below .500 this year. We're currently 12-9 with 10 games left in the regular season, we'd have to go 3-7 and we have Ball State twice, NIU twice, CMU again.

I guess if we're underwhelming, who's exactly been overwhelming? I think the best team I've seen play in the MAC so far has been Akron but I'll admit I haven't watched a ton of Toledo to judge.

Yes we're 4-4 in the MAC right now but the three teams tied at the top of the MAC right now are only 2 games ahead at 6-2 thanks to yesterday's results. Of those three, Toledo, Ohio and Akron, we play Toledo twice and we play Akron once. Ohio U plays three of their next 4 on the road at WMU, home game against Miami(Ohio) (who looked better than I thought they would be but they also have played CMU twice and BG once) and then @Toledo and @Buffalo. Everyone at the top plays each other while we're going to be playing more of the teams at the bottom of the standings.

Miami(Ohio) yesterday made 50% of their 3 point shots and that game came down to one shot. Akron made a ridiculous 52.6% of their 3 points shot in that game at the Convocation Center. Buffalo and Ohio made 32 and 35.7% of their 3 pointers, decent clips. It has taken really good shooting days to beat us. Could that happen again in the MAC tourney? Sure.. but honestly I give us as good of a shot as anyone. We could make our lives a lot easier if we developed some offensive continuity and just shoot free throws more consistently.

Last point. Basketball is one of those weird sports that generally comes down to one shot or two at the end. Right now we haven't had those go our way.. That could easily change in March.

If we can find a way to win @Akron... I honestly think my excitement would be restored considering the results of what happened Saturday. This league is wide open!

My guess is that you tune out during last few minutes of the games. Check out the attendance of the last home game! Here's another guess attendance will only keep going down they blow it with those 2 home losses. And you checked out Riley's play lately? He plays like it's to much effort to run up the court to play offense, half the the team has to play a waiting game until he shows up!
