Please explain what you mean.

This is a very, very confusing statement. 01-lauramac2

Because I attend so many games I assumed that basketball had gone back to an 8 game tournament schedule as well. You attempted to make a little fun of my ignorance so I returned the favor. By pointing out your ignorance as well. There was high expectations for this years team to be a top notch Mac team with 6 seniors. And it has fallen well short of those expectations. So I will rephrase my statement if Murphy does not win at least 2 games in the tournament I will move back to my seat that I sat in during the last year of Boone. Many people/paying fans are not at all happy with this teams lack of performance.

RE: 8-team men's basketball tourney:

I asked GARY WATERS about it (yes it was back in the 20th century) and he was against it. He said it gave those players on teams out of the tourney hunt nothing to play for.

And you miss spoke as well and assumed that I would understand your vague statement. I am Dyslexic I along with many who are take statements literally. Now all you had to do was ask a sensible question and I would have made the correction you chose to make a funny then so did I.

I will no longer reply to this tread unless you wish to know more about what's it like to live with Dyslexia.

I did not misspeak and 'literalness' or concreteness is a PSYCHOLOGICAL characteristic which folks have to a greater or lesser degree. I don't want to start a thread on clinical psych.

Super, let ME bail YOU out:

I just discovered what you were speaking 03-idea:

Only 8 teams go to Cleveland for the tourney... (yet all 12 teams play in the tourney but 4 teams will NOT advance to CLE).

Now IF you had said, EMU has to advance to CLE for the men's tourney...

RE: GameDay: @Miami
A little late but here is my comment on this game and on the season in general so far.

As we can all agree our defense is very good and very rarely do we collapse on that side of the ball.

On offense, well it is a whole different story.

Murphy is a Syracuse product and as we all know Syracuse gets top notch talent year in and year out. I think Murph in general underestimated the MAC thinking that rejects from higher conferences could just come in and kill the competition. Honestly I thought the same but other than Glenn I don't think any of the transfers from "better" conferences have really stood out or brought the expected results. Our team is long, our team is athletics which is great for defense and that is all.

Our team is unskilled and in general has very low basketball IQ. A lot of these deficiencies are covered up by our length and athleticism but when we play a better team you can honestly say that we are lost on offense.

Now here is where I am displeased with Murph. I wish he could see that our guys aren't able to create things on their own as Syracuse players do. We need a PG that is a true floor general and can guide the rest of the knuckleheads. We also need set plays (not a lot, just a few that we can run to perfection). Maybe then we would have a better chance scoring.

I will conclude with this. I think either Murphy is not a great coach and cannot put in an extensive offensive scheme in OR Murphy knows deep down that his team is not smart enough to run plays. Then why do you recruit these guys ? I mean I have heard from several sources the Ray Lee has zero IQ basketball wise before he was even at EMU so I am sure Murph and the staff heard that as well. Either way this makes the coaching staff look bad.

Agree with everything except some of the last paragraph. You recruit guys like Ray Lee because he is an immense talent and you hope you can teach him how to be a smarter basketball player. He's shown better signs the last couple games after his pseudo-benching. Still forces things a little too much, but not nearly as much as he did earlier in the season. If he gradually improves, you likely have one of the better players in the league before his career is done. If he doesn't improve, then you took a chance on a talent that the MAC typically doesn't see.

Remember, he's a 19 year old kid. Tons of room to grow. From what I've heard and read, he's a gym rat. That's encouraging.
