RE: Signing Day event.
A lot of programs do these and they keep getting bigger and bigger. Can be a lot of fun, show clips of the recruits and the fans talk to the coaches over a beverage. Also is a good way to sell season tickets and the schools make money selling stuff, auctions, ect.

RE: Signing Day event.
It is a matter of PERSONALITY, but CC is much, much more open to fans and less secretive than English.
Coaches understand that they have to use their heads when being very public with fans, but English was much more inaccessible then he needed to be.
I can remember back in the 90s football luncheons the day before some games. I remember meeting Charlie Batch that way. Think we walked from McKenny to Bowen after one luncheon.
CC I think will make his program seem more a part of the university.
Maybe they should have a luncheon or two before the 1st or 2nd home games. Could hold it at the student union.

Signing Day event at the Convocation Center on Wednesday evening. We've never hosted anything like this as long as I've been here. I think I'll make my way over for this.
It was either Coach E's first year or coach Genyck had one and my buddies and I went to it

I think CC could sell snow to Eskimos.

Is this put on by EMU or a booster club? At other programs some are put on by booster clubs that charge $ and provide liquor. Just this week the NCAA got in involved in these events, the ones put on by booster clubs the media can no attend including web-site guys from Rivals, ect. Some radio host guys would broadcast live from the event. In the past the players could not attend, I heard now they can depending on who is hosting.

I have never attended one (I don't live locally) but in the past the ones I remember were in conjunction with a home men's basketball game.
I'm trying to remember but it might have been say 5:00 p.m. with the game two hours later.
As such it would have been simply part of the basketball game activities.

This is a great idea, i hope they will allow for QA sessions with CC and a couple AC...
Did English do something similar to this also?

This is your 'answer'.
I'm guessing Genyk but it has been so many years that my memory is foggy.
I supposed that we could go back to Genyk's last year / English's first and see if either or both had a home men's basketball game that Wednesday.

This is being put on by athletic department.
Per the release it says food and beverages are going to be provided. But, like the press conference, there won't be liquor involved.
Should be fun! Hopefully weather cooperates! Also great that they are letting coaches go around and mingle with folks!

I kind of consider this an 'experiment' even though it isn't a planned as an 'experiment' per se.
What I mean is: If a coach and coaching staff try reaching out to the EMU stakeholders, such as students, faculty and staff, alums, locals, etc. will they respond???
If they 'respond' will they show up at games????
I still hope we get more player families, including parents, grand parents, siblings, girl friends (hopefully only one GF per player ) out to games.

I remember at Genyck's they had free food and softdrinks for students. Pretty sure I went because of the free meal.
