2. Tulane -- Anyone know who their coach is?
3. ECU -- Limited pressure

If you're gonna make a list, it should probably include reasoning behind the rankings. Top 5 best available jobs or top 5 best places to coach or top 5 jobs in terms of coaching salary or......

SMU facilities are also nicer than UCF's (which is saying something because UCF's are quite nice) and SMU is smack-dab in the middle of one of the top recruitings grounds in the country.

GrayBeard - Tulane's coach is Ed Conroy. I didn't have to look that up because there's a guy on PonyFans from Charleston who always talks about how great Conroy was at The Citadel and how if given a chance he will have Tulane in the NCAAs.

RE: Rank the 5 best basketball jobs in the American.
1. Louisville- Top salary, largest fan base, best arena, absolute commitment from AD (For the next few months, then move everyone up one)
2. Memphis- Great city fan support, good salary, close 2nd arena in FedEx Forum, excellent in-city recruiting
3. UConn- Good salary, argument for #2 but I feel the truly dedicated fan base is smaller than Memphis, arena situation falls behind top two
4. Cincy- Rates better historically but lack of resources for basketball facilities currently hurts. Fan base starting to regain form but still not close to Huggins days due to a minority that illogically never accept anyone but Bob.
5. Temple- Historically strong. Not sure about salary but Philly is good basketball town and not a lot of better options to be honest.

Our facilities are certainly top 5. As far as salary goes, Dunphy makes $725K a year. We could probably pay around $1.5M max. for a coach.

RE: Rank the 5 best basketball jobs in the American.
1. Louisville - tons of money, fans, and heading to ACC
2. Memphis - perennial power, huge fan base, unlimited bball money, even at the expense of football
3. Uconn - See memphis. Rated memphis higher due to fed ex
4. Cinci - perennial top 25 contender.
5. Temple based on history, and willingness to win
6. SMU/UCF SMU has tons of $$$$$ for coaches, budget, recruits, etc.
8. USF
9. Houston
10. Rutgers

To the smu poster who thinks their facilities are better than UCF....just no. I know Moody just got a makeover, but really the only thing thats better about the arena than UCFs is the jumbo tron.

RE: Rank the 5 best basketball jobs in the American.
ucf #5? no offense

id put temple #5 (fanbase, recruiting grounds and tradition of winning)

then id have houston #6.. they lack fan support now but they have deep history, great recruiting grounds (arguably the best individual city), and a school size and located central in a Huge basketball city that if they ever returned to winning theyd easily return the fanbase

30 years ago might seem like a long time ago but in the larger picture of things (and the entire history of the sport) its relatively recent and Houston was selling out football arenas for baskeball games in those times
http://cdn.rsvlts.com/wp-content/uploads...077_o.jpeg

strictly talking basketball only, if a coach at houston went 30-2 and made a splash in the tourney, theyd be praised with the resurgence of Houston and he'd be credit with all of it and heavily praised. no offense and again strictly basketball, a coach at ucf goes 30-2 and makes a splash in the tourney it would be an exciting but viewed in a similar situation to the FGCU in the basketball circles where ucf doesn't really have a brand yet.

this is not judging current state of the program but as in the Job and if you are successful at that job, because if that was the case youd have smu up there as-well who is currently doing amazing

No longer true. No short-sheeting of football program any more. Basketball not cut, just fully funding football now, too.

really? Were having a down year too.

6) UCF 5,605 (5,181)
7) Temple 5,070 (5,924)

Agree on the other points though which is why I put temple at 5.

This might be the worst Temple team in my lifetime. We barely have enough players to field a team. People here are not loyal like they are in Louisville, Memphis, Dayton, New Mexico, etc. If the team sucks, no one is spending time and money to see us play, myself included. When we're good and playing good teams, people will show up. Temple fans are very fickle.

When was the last time ECU made the NCAA tourney or won a game in it? USF did both just two years ago. We aren't a basketball powerhouse by any means but are certainly NOT at the bottom of this league in that sport

I would put USFs facilities in the top 5 of this league

Temple does not suck this year, and your fans aren't helping. They're very close to good (which I hope you know); things are not black and white.
