SMU has a ton of money. The top 2 are correct. There aren't 10 jobs better than Memphis and only about 5 or 6 you should leave for.

I agree with 1 and 2. Louisville has passed us as an athletic program but Memphis is still a top 10 ball coaching job. We need to watch UCF. I have said it since they joined they are gonna be a force eventually.

Yea, back in the 80's the city of Louisville was actually putting out talent. Seems like half their team was from "Louisville-Seneca". The city doesn't have home grown talent anymore for whatever reason. It will be interesting to see how things go when Pitino retires.

UCONN's attendance surprised me. They don't get near the support Memphis does.

If we are close to a top 20 job it is because of Pastner and the upgrade to the AAC. Top 10 jobs don't lure Scott Drew, Leonard Hamilton and Tim Floyd as their primary candidates...and get turned down by 2 of them. Top 10 programs don't have to hire a guy like Pastner 5 minutes before he is on his way to Kentucky, without even interviewing him, because nobody else will take the job.

That was essentially rock bottom for our program. I'm not sure if you remember the coaching search before that when we ended up with a final four and NBA coach

Who had a sullied reputation ...

Cal needed Memphis just as much as Memphis needed Cal.

Not necessarily, they have 3 national championships. That accounts for a TON. Around here, sure, it's a no brainer but nationally? Totally different story.

Depends how you want to define it. We have various coaches with success over 6 decades. A larger fan base. Better facilities. Plentiful home grown talent. They won 3 national titles over a 15 year span under one coach whom is now retired.

I agree that it is subjective for sure and it does depend on how you define it. Nationally, however, I would not bet that Memphis would be viewed as a better job. Maybe, but I doubt it.
