It sure didn't look like it on TV. Great student section, but lots of green empty seats.

Think about it... The convo is a big circle... the outer rings, which were the empty ones hold way more people than the inner rings, So vertically, it might have appeared to be 2/3 full, but in reality it was probably a little more than half of the seats. That was far from a good Saturday crowd, size-wize.

Funny to see other MAC fans questioning Ohio's attendance. 03-lmfao

That was an unbelievably good game. I still think Toledo is the best team in the conference. They have so many weapons on offense. It'll take an upset for them not to win in Cleveland.

It was a great game to attend as well. I'd guess 8,500 actual, which means about 4,500 empty seats. People seem to forget the sheer size of the Convo. I'm obviously biased, but that atmosphere in Athens on Saturday would be the envy of any MAC team. That crowd would have been a sellout in all but a few MAC gyms.

I agree that it was a good crowd, and a treat for a MAC home court advantage. At this time our Toledo program hasn't seen quite the crowds like that, but Wednesday vs. BG and the late weekend game vs. EMU will rival that OU crowd. Even if between 6500 and 8000 are there, our gym is smaller and should feel electric. Undefeated at home is the mark I really want to hit this season.

Not likely to see 8000 in Savage for a basketball game anytime soon. When they renovated they put in all those box seats on the west side which eliminated about 1800-2000 seats so now the maximum capacity is 7300 as I recall from the WNIT Championship game which was a sell-out.

I was expecting a bigger crowd, but it was still a good one. only ohio really puts 7500 plus in their arena multiple times a yr. Toledo is getting close to regularly being back in that 6-7 k zone that used to be typical for us. recent crowds have been there and the team is winning and fun to watch. the new savage design is smaller though so 7500 would be standing room only.

as far as a mac at large ohio winning this game probably helps the league. while Toledo will likely win the regular season and have the best record overall, ohio has better non-conf wins and the toughest mac schedule with round robins in the slightly stronger east and cross over home and homes w western and Toledo, plus eastern on the road. they beat mercer who is actually looking like a bubble team, won at Richmond another bubble team and their wins over n iowa and valpo might look pretty good before the yr is done. Toledo's best wins are at Robert morris, at boston college, stony brook neutral, cleve st and sam houston st at home. all decent programs but none have a shot at an at large.

either way Toledo or ou would need to more or less run the table reg season to have a shot. I do think Toledo could make a tourney run if they get the right kind of matchups. ohio is always competitive and could win a tourney game because they play defense, rebound and have a couple guys who can get hot, but I think their depth and lack of consistent scorers would catch up w them against real good comp.

The ideal time for an Ohio home game is a tip between 4-7 on Saturdays. Perfect for the Columbus and other out of town Bobcat fans to make the drive. I know in my section the family in front of my seats are from Worthington and the season ticket holders behind me are from Reynoldsburg. Both of which are Columbus suburbs. I drive 1.5 hours one way to attend games. Sunday evening games are probably my least favorite.

The Miami game this weekend will easily crack 10,000 in large part because it's sibs weekend and it's Miami.

I left wiggle room. Whatever they say capacity is, Toledo can come close and make it rockin.

It was my first time at the Convo. Based on OU's claim to have the best fans in the MAC, and with Toledo coming to town with only 2 losses, I would have thought there would have been more people there. Good Atmosphere, but in my opinion the number is closer to the 7,000 number mentioned earlier. No way was there 9,300 people there. You could have fit everyone in the bottom 1/3 of the upper deck & below, the upper 2/3 of the upper bowl was basically empty. Would have liked to seen more UT fans there as well. Looking forward to the rematch in T-town. Have a hard time imagining OU will repeat their performance from 3, but Toledo needs to find an answer to Ndour.

the Convo seats 13,000. 7K would mean it was half empty, even by your estimates it wasn't half empty. If 2/3 of the upper bowl was empty that's going to be about 4K empty seats. 13-4=9.

regardless, Ohio sells 9K tickets and you think that's not enough to claim best fans in the MAC. Who then should hold that title?

I would assume, there are many more seats in the upper bowl than the lower. Good crowd, good atmosphere, I was just expecting better based on everything we hear here from OU fans. I really enjoyed the band, it was like they brought the marching band indoors, it wasn't just a pep band.

Interesting the ratio of posts on basketball vs. the ones on attendance. 1:10 maybe?

That's macbbs in a nutshell.

What's wrong with that? Without attendance, there's no basketball. I think it's a valid topic to have a strong conversation about it.

You are certainly in the right place, then. People are far more interested in attendance than they are actual games. But far be it for me to tell people what they should be interested in. Just pointing it out.
