Similar to us back when Cal was here. Your thoughts? Adidas has seem to be getting some fire lately with the whole NBA situation regarding t-shirts instead of sleeveless jerseys.

uh oh!

With Nike's help, Kwanzo may get some 3 star recruits instead of the usual 1 and 2 stars he beat SEMO and Drake to get.

RE: University of Tennessee switches to Nike from Adidas
As a TN fan I am glad bc Nike's fan apparel selection is far and away better. Adidas' selection dwindled over the years and a lot of it had that euro style of late. Wish it kicked in later this year, but will not until July of 2015.

As for the deal, it ranks among the top 10 deals among colleges out there right now. Adidas offered more guaranteed money to the tune of 700K-1 million per year (depending on year) but Nike offered a 200K signing bonus effective July 1 of '14, an extra 800K in gear and apparel to help them transition away from Adidas, and TN is getting 13% revenue sharing with Nike as compared to 9% with Adidas which will probably make it more lucrative given their volume of sales (based of 2012 numbers the extra revenue split would have equaled about 1.2 million more). Also, there are performance bonuses and TN can renegotiate along the way as do most schools.

Tennessee has also reportedly been in talks with personnel at other smaller universities about selling some of their Adidas gear ( I assume non-logo items).

Recruits seemed to be really happy via twitter after the announcement was made. That is always a positive.

As for Adidas, I believe they lost Wisconsin in 2013. Notre Dame is now gone. Tennessee is gone. Texas A&M is now reportedly entering talks with Nike. Michigan was talking about leaving early (they switched to Adidas in 2008) but have now said they will stay until 2016, but will open up to other suitors towards the end of that contract.

I don't know, but is there any other elite team besides UM that has a more embarrassing little brother that utk?

That's ......just.......great.

I just unloaded $90 last month to buy my son this orange Adidas shirt for my son who works as an intern at UT's Athletic Department. I can hear it now this summer, "Dad, I need money to buy a new Nike UT golf shirt this fall!"

Am concerned now with the state and local p9lticing just how it will effect the relationship between Nike and the Tigers.

I've gotten to the point that I like Adidas' golf gear better than Nike but Nike for everything else.
